Shades of Grey

Passing by quickly today with my office uniform. Flirty blouse, classic pencil skirt and some strappy heels will do the trick. I added some gold rings and a silky lip to brighten up my day. Mores posts coming soon!

How do you dress for work every day?

How are you enjoying the first day of Autumn?

“I like my money right where I can see it: hanging in my closet.” — Carrie Bradshaw

It’s been five days sine the launch of the Altuzarra For Target Collection. Finally! The wait is over!

After an hour and a half on line, a manager at the 225th street/Riverdale location where we were waiting, came out and told me, my team and the rest of the line that it was not going to be sold there! I freaked out, even dropping the F bomb on her: “Are you f***ing kidding me?” Manager: “No.” As if this didn’t mean anything to her. As if making this month’s sales goal in one day meant nothing to her. We ran out of there so fast. I just couldn’t waste any more time on her, her story and her lack of fashion sense. It was time to put our heads together and find Targets within our reach. We got in our getaway car and drove to the Bronx Terminal market where there wasn’t really much of the collection nor was there any excitement whatsoever. I was in a panic because my number one reason in running around like a crazy person was to get my hands on the maxi dress that I plan to wear to my friend’s wedding. Huddle time! Next stop? Harlem! I didn’t even remember getting there, I just remember we didn’t make a line and I found myself bumping into fashionistas with a load of clothes across their arms, in carts, with friends! After a few grabs here and there, my next strategy was to follow people and the items they had that I wanted, I needed. After negotiating with a fellow shopper who had all the sizes of the Orchid Maxi dress (her sister chose my dress for her bridesmaids, the nerve!), she tried on the dress and before I knew it, I walked out of Target with a big smile on my face. Did I mention I also purchased everything online first? A girl’s got to be able to secure her wardrobe. Wink, wink.

Above are all the looks currently in my closet. I can’t wait to style and share them with all of you.

Did you make the line at Target this past weekend? Are you happy with all your purchases?

Have a beautiful weekend! <3

Maroon Sai

I’ve had this lace motorcycle jacket forever! My sister’s hair stylist (thank you Gladys!) thought she would be the best candidate for it 6 years ago! Wrong! I totally took control over it and kept it for myself. Only thing is, exactly that -it’s been 6 years! We’ve thought about dying it another color – of course black. Shaking my head! I can tell you it’s not like we weren’t into fashion then we just saw this piece as one of a kind and we didn’t want to f*** it up! How were we going to style this maroon (remember that episode from Saved By The Bell) colored jacket? Up until this week it has been in the cleaners pile (we were serious about the dying) the whole time. Every Fall -it’s like okay it blends in to the current season, now what? Well the best way to style a piece you aren’t familiar with is to keep it within it’s color group.  That’s exactly what I did.

I decided to wear my H&M high waist burgundy, maroon, wine, whatever you want to call it pencil skirt, but I knew I couldn’t just pull off the jacket without anything underneath. I found this wool cropped top at a market in Jersey for $5, so I played around a bit. The top and skirt looked great together so I really didn’t need the jacket. At this point I’m like should I just get rid of this jacket? No! Let me work something out.  I threw on the jacket and voila! Perfect! Finally! Next was the shoes. I knew they had to be nude, but what kind of shoe? It was chilly, but warming up later on so I went with the nude lace up sandals I just received in the mail a few days ago that are super chic looking and affordable! I’m thinking about getting the black ones too, they are only $29.80!  And there you have it. Sometimes you hold on to some pieces for so long, but you know you can’t let go of them just yet! Give it a chance, especially if you know so much more can come from it.

Do you hold on to pieces of clothing for too long? That you’ve never worn?

Are you wearing your Fall colors already? How are you feeling this weather?

Happy Hump Day!

D Squared

The denim on denim look will never get old. I can pair any of my blue jeans with this button down shirt and add any pump or high heeled sandal for a sophisticated chic vibe. A sexy one too. You can play around so much with denim, I think it’s safe to say it is the new black. During Fall and into Winter (how scary is that to say?), jeans are the most popular item in my closet, it’s cooler around this time making it comfortable enough to wear long pants and long sleeves. The jeans were high enough to tuck in the shirt, a styling trick that’s become a personal favorite of mine. Another favorite is the ankle strap heel which I paired with the rolled up jeans (they were super long on me so cut them and then rolled them up to show the strap). I unbuttoned my shirt to show off the tan I developed from the day before!

Have you tried the denim on denim look?

Happy Tuesday!

“…This Is Known As Fashion Week”

The last day of fashion week SS 2014 happened to be my second time ever at a fashion show. The first time I was offered an invite to a designer’s menswear collection viewing. I couldn’t pass on the opportunity and it was probably the beginning of my fashion dreams. This year I thank a fellow Stylist for inviting me to her friend’s fashion show this year and allowing me to be a part of an experience I hope to live forever.

For the Sarango New York fashion show on Union Square, I chose to wear a black body hugging slip dress. Stephanie’s collection was going to be full of pastel and earth tones (from a sneak peek Instagram post) so instead of blending in with the models, I wore Anna Wintour’s not so favorite color (check out her answers to more of the 73 questions with Vogue via Youtube!) It was so humid out, black was the perfect color to cover any sweat marks! If any! Ha!

I kept my makeup light, but glowing by using Nars ‘Silk Road‘ (my all time favorite special occasion eye shadow), Nars Larger Than Life ‘Gold Digger‘ Lip gloss over Chanel Rouge Coco ‘Superstition’ lipstick and Dior Vernis ‘Or Divin’ nail lacquer. I added some new dainty jewelry to match my golden makeup; Rebecca Minkoff ankle strap sandals I got at Marshall’s for lees than $100 (one of my many Fall shoe additions) and a BCBGMAXAZRIA envelope clutch I got as a gift. I enjoyed every minute of the show and expect to purchase one or two pieces once the collection is available online. I snapped some photos after the show, check them out below.

Happy Monday Everyone!

August In A Flash

This past month has been full of events, from a bridal shower to a Frozen party to a Broadway play. Decisions had to be made for the proper attire and I can tell from looking back that it was all about the Summer blues, some black too.

I’ve already started September in black; leading me to believe that it’s going to be my go to color this Fall. What do you think?

Should I stick to black or try to play with some other Fall hues?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Body Like The Summer

I finally made it to Long Beach this past weekend to enjoy what was left of Summer. Hopefully soon I can go on vacation and make up for all those long lost Summer days!

Here I am in one of my many black one – piece swimsuits…

Did you all enjoy your Summer this year?
