Mod-ri Gras

It’s been a week since Fat Tuesday, but finally here is my Mardi Gras look. Instead of decorating the office with hearts all over for Valentine’s Day I went a tad bit more festive this year with purple, green and gold. There is something about decorating that boosts up my mood instantly. Mardi Gras is not just for party animals, but a way to celebrate life and enjoy it with other people. What holiday isn’t about celebrating life really? This Winter, oh you Winter -has not been an easy one, but I put all that aside and went with a purple mini which for me isn’t so mini (remember I’m 5 feet and a little something), a new turtleneck to add to the family, and some knee high boots for a complete mod look. Can’t forget the beautiful masks we played around with that were provided by my lovely co-worker.

How do you all think I pulled off the masked mod look?

Love Me Like You Do

I decided to go for a low key celebration for my 10 year anniversary…a trip to the movies. What did I go see? Fifty Shades of Grey of course. It was the perfect movie for the occasion. The soundtrack is also a great listen if you want to get in the mood. I took a risk and dressed up for love and not necessarily for the weather. (Lol). Nothing says L-O-V-E like a LRD (little red dress). I went with a 50’s meets the 90’s vibe in my faux fur and choker combination.

How do you all think I pulled off my look? Did you watch Fifty Shades this past weekend? What did you think?

xoxo, BudgetSai

Match Made In Heaven

It’s been too cold (freezing actually) in New York, and my photographer has been working on some other projects lately and will be for another week or so, but I’m finally back! The best way to improvise with such tragic conditions is to share my daily outfits from inside my apartment, which is still under renovations. I have very little furniture to move around and can easily use any wall for a back drop! (And he takes good photos too).
For a late night friend’s birthday dinner, I wore a very cool piece from H&M. Really, I fell in love with the thumb hole at the end of the sleeves and so I had to have it. It sort of looked like boxing gloves and made me feel real tough wearing it. Surprisingly this is something I can see myself wearing over and over again. My style is written all over it: black, has a turtleneck and fits like a glove.
How are you all on the East Coast surviving the cold?
What has been your go to clothing item this Winter?

Super Bowl 2015

Congratulations to the New England Patriots! I’d like to give a special thanks to BAREBURGER (located at 85 Second Avenue, NY, NY 10003) for being such wonderful hosts! It’s one of my favorite New York City brunch spots.

This Winter I’m loving all of Forever 21’s outerwear. I had to have this faux suede aviator coat, it’s not too bright (I’m trying more color now so when it’s time for Summer outfits I won’t be too afraid to go all out) and very warm if you ask me. I’m not a die hard football fan, but I do love all the excitement it brings when it’s Super Bowl Sunday. Instead of dressing up according to the team I was routing for, I wore a tee that said, “I kinda of like football, but let’s not go overboard”. The shirt actually came with a New York City “logo” on the front pocket that I tore off and then had it sewed. It was more me that way. I’ve realized that you can not only alter something to your height, but also your liking. I over accessorized because I felt too plain on a day such as Super Bowl Sunday, it was my way of cheerleading without the pompoms. Some red pumps to keep it look feminine, then I changed into my lug boots because I totally forgot that it was going to start snowing in the middle of game time here in New York City. So much for that. I am from…and I love New York, but why so cold? Ugh!

I also love how people all over the World come together to support American Football. I read that about 100 million people watched the game! Love me some sports and lots of love.

Did you watch the game on Sunday?
What are your favorite sports to watch?

Not Looking Back

A quick look at some of my January 2015 Instagram posts. Started off going to the gym, enjoying the City’s brisks nights, some hot oatmeal, through the snow, rain, all while decorating my home with flowers every week. Then there was more snow which meant some time to myself at home, but also enjoying those family get togethers at the beginning of the year. Winter really is a hibernating season and you can’t help but to feel bummed out. One thing that helps me put on a happy face is cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning. There is always something to do, but not until now did I realize that it’s a hobby that is very therapeutic for me and keeps me sane! Especially in the cold! Summer I miss you, come back already.

How was everyone’s first month of 2015?

So much coming up in February!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday!

Winter Wonderland

What a beautiful snow day to go hiking with my family. After all the Blizzard hype, I’m grateful it wasn’t more than the mere 6 inches – enough to have a day off and enjoy the snow. As much as I’m not a fan of the snow or anything with the word storm in it, I appreciate the beauty of it while it’s falling and the 24 hours it’s on the ground. It’s calming and therapeutic for me. Aside from relaxing at home, I went out to play, like the big kid I am. :)

I threw on my (faux) furry vest over a turtleneck and some distressed skinny jeans. I also wore my sombrero for a monochromatic look and a pair of track sole booties to be able to walk and keep warm for the 30 minute hike (okay I changed into some flat cold weather boots so I wouldn’t break my neck in the process) in the park. A small bag to store my keys, phone, and tissues; and last but never the least in this weather, my leather gloves to keep me extra warm.

How did you spend your snow day (if you had one)?
What do you think of my (faux) fur outfits lately?

Stay warm!

xoxo, BudgetSai

In A Grey Area

Although I only have two shades of grey in this outfit, I see myself and many other fashionistas wearing grey much more this cold, freeezing Winter. Could it be just a trend or is this weather bringing out the gloom in all of us? Hey I’m not complaining, I love how versatile grey is, can be paired with almost any color. Right now I like to pair it with other neutrals, like tan and brown like I did here. In the Summer don’t forget to give your greys a taste of the bright side, next to white or neon.
Are you giving black a break and heading over to the grey area?
I hear rain and snow are on its way to the Northeast. Stay warm and be safe everyone!
Happy Weekend!
