Clutch Factor

A quick throwback of my go to clutches this past Spring and Summer. You can normally find me with huge everyday handbags, but when I go small, I still kind of go big. I like to have fun and unique pieces to hold on to, make a statement in every way from the shoes up to the very last accessory which for most people it’s the handbag. Sometimes I’ll work around a clutch and then decide what to wear with it. I do this because you find yourself re-using the same small black one and then you’ll never get out of that dull styling routine. Below you’ll see color, print, text and even right through one.

What bag(s) will you be holding this Fall?

Do you prefer small or large handbags?

Frozen

This past Saturday was my niece’s 6th birthday party. The Frozen theme turned out to be a huge success and she was very happy to have Elsa and Anna attend her special day. After all she is a princess herself and princesses get together and do princess things. My sister and I thought it would be a very cute idea for all the ladies in the family to wear frozen t-shirts and style it in our own way. First we found one at Forever 21, then JCPenny had more of a selection, but not many in our sizes, Kohl’s had everything we were looking for. When I think of a graphic tee I automatically think jeans and sneakers,  but I totally went against the norm pairing my tee with a leather mini skirt and a black blazer. As much as would have liked to be in heels in my sister’s backyard, I probably wasn’t going to be able to move around as much so instead I added my Prabal Gurung for Target sandals that I haven’t worn at all and a bunch of my favorite bracelets to my outfit, keeping it young and fresh for a kid’s party.

How do you wear your graphic tees?

The Feeling Is Neutral

I know it’s not Fall yet, but I’ve been dying to wear this leather skirt that I bought along with the dress at Crossroads Trading. It’s so soft and light and extra flirty with the perfectly situated ruffles at the bottom of the skirt. I kept the color palette similar for a monochromatic look and the nude sandals to remind myself that yes it’s still Summer. No major accessories, but my everyday stud earrings. Simplicity at it’s best.

Do you rock the Summer leather?

How do you feel about the those darn pigeons in my photos?

Have a nice weekend everyone!

Hidden Gem

At one point, I loved this floral DVF camisole. I bought it at one of the designer’s mid-year sample sales. I liked the dainty lace print mixed with bright florals, but I think it’s time to move on from it. It’s either aging me or making me look younger (as much as everyone appreciates that youthful look, you don’t want to look like a child). I like my camisoles mostly a solid color with a v-neck or a lower cut for a hint of cleavage. I guess I could save it for when I’m more mature. You see when you buy something of good quality, you should consider the item’s longevity in your closet. In your 20s, this is a sweet top for office attire, but I hate office attire. In the real world you should be able to wear what you want while doing what you want career wise. Please don’t think I’m being an ageist, you can look fab at any age! Also, If you love what you do, you’ll sport your workwear accordingly. Bottom line, wear what makes you happy.

I thought I could bring out the colors of the top with a green holographic shoe and complimentary green stone cocktail rings, while I still had the cami in my possession. A pencil skirt and a cropped denim jacket gave it a fresh workwear look, but feel free to add blue skinny jeans and a long blazer for date night.

How do you wear camisoles?

Showered In Snake

I had such an amazing time at Diana’s bridal shower. Such a warm and welcoming feeling at Angelina’s Cafe with friends and family of the the bride to be. The tables were delicately adorned with all the necessary tableware, the place was just the right size for about 40 fabulous women, and spacious enough for photos. The menu had 4 options for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Whatever you were in the mood for, it was available. We played fun games that brought us all closer with one another before the big day. What I like about bridal showers is that it gives you the opportunity to get to know the people around you because you’re all present to share the two special people’s happiness and love….

Okay! Enough with all that mushy stuff! For Ms. Diana’s bridal shower I chose a snakeskin print flowy dress, grey pumps and the beautiful Mrs. Birkin. The showers ended before the bridal shower so instead of going with all black (like I originally planned), I thought I would bring out a year round trend and pair it with similar colors: snake print. As I become more familiar with thrift shops and flea markets, I’ve learned that you will always find something you can wear now and later. This dress can transition into Fall with a boot (knee high, over the knee and even booties), but for now I chose a grey suede pump and bright red nails to keep the summer vibe.

Don’t get me wrong I love leopard, but snakeskin is slithering its way to my heart. Will you rock some snake print this Fall?

All We Got Is Right Now

Another beautiful weekend! This time I spent my Saturday afternoon with friends bar hopping and enjoying the rest of the summer down at the Lower East Side. Summer calls for shorts, something I don’t have much of because I prefer dresses -the lady in me or just a lady who doesn’t want to feel like she’s gone commando, especially with the on trend booty cleavage denim that is simply unavoidable. I mean mine were short, but my privates weren’t hanging out! It’s been hard to shop for shorts or just traumatizing seeing all these young girls with their butts hanging out and they are oblivious to the fact that: “uh miss? Your a** is hanging out!” I’ll go back to my outfit of the day now. I paired my just about right length shorts with a black bodysuit, and my black chucks for the sometimes cool, laid back girl in me. I spent all week in heels and in New York City it can be a pain to bar hop in heels so I went flat and my feet were thankful. On the weekends if I come across an ideal mural or backdrop I take full advantage of it, during the work week I’m constrained to my workplace area making it difficult to explore the great streets New York has to offer.

Where are your favorite places to bar hop?

How do you pair your short shorts?

Hope you all had a fun filled weekend!

Altuzarra For Target -Heaven Sent!

Okay now that I’ve had some time to let sink in, I can finally share my favorites from the lookbook I’ve been looking forward to ever since the announcement back in May.  A lot of people may not understand why I go crazy for high end designers and their budget friendly collaborations. As much as I like to budget everything I wear, I still keep in mind the beautiful runway clothes and the designers that make it all worth while. The runway is a great way to inspire everyday style and spot the latest trends on the rise. Altuzarra is one I have come familiar with through the likes of Kim Kardashian, Lupita Nyong’o, and Rihanna. These women wear outfits that make me think:  “I love it! Where can I get a cheaper version of that?!” I’m always interested in knowing what designers they are wearing and incorporate that in my wardrobe and my style.  Altuzarra brings out a woman’s sexy and seductive side, but with sophistication. This collaboration has a 70’s vibe which I look forward to exploring and making it my own.  Jospeh Altuzarra, received the 2014 CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Womenswear Designer of the Year Award -and because of this is someone I’d consider wearing.  A male designer who knows so much about how to dress a woman and you can really see that through his work.

The high slits, body hugging dresses, fur, and lace makes you want to have everything from this collaboration. This lookbook is dark, vampy and mysterious -perfect for Fall. Below are the looks I will fight for. Yes that’s right, I’m out for blood, lol.

Will I see you on the checkout line on September 14th?

Which look below is your favorite? Check out more looks from Altuzarra for Target via Refinery 29.
