Covered In Lace

I’ve been dying to wear this skirt, but when you’re a girl with a few bumps on the road, sometimes it takes more than just buy it and wear it. Curvy girls (I’m also petite) have trouble in the bottoms department: jeans, pants and skirts are sometimes impossible if you don’t prep yourself before shopping for them. There really is only a 50/50 chance of accomplishment. You want it to fit your waist, but you also want it to fit your hips and thighs! I really had to have it, but I knew the small wasn’t going to fit past my thighs, so I went for the medium, then of course it was too big on the waist. I took it to my tailor and told him to please take it in! He really does a great job every time. If you’re in love with something and all you need are minor adjustments, I say go ahead and buy it! I paired my problematic skirt (but perfect in the end) with my favorite denim shirt and my lace up Schutz heels. I love shoes with lace up details and zippers. For work I made sure the skirt was high enough not to reveal any skin. You can do the same or tuck it in if you’re not into the cropped top look.  A little Nars lip for yesterday’s National Lipstick Day and there you have it!

How do you feel about baring your midriff?

Have you added lace up heels to your shoe collection?

Are you a regular at your local cleaners?

Have a great day!

Set Me Free

When it comes to the weekend and the heat you want to be as comfortable and as free as possible. You’ve read about my romper obsession before, but this one is one I have to rave about today. I purchased this romper at Forever 21 about two months ago online. What I didn’t know was that I was going to find it on another website for double the price! On one of my spontaneous visits to Nasty Gal I searched for rompers as I was shopping for summer clothes and there it was -I couldn’t believe my eyes, the same exact romper! Don’t get me wrong, there are some unique pieces at Nasty Gal that are worth the money, but always do a little bit of research before buying the first thing that you see online or in stores. It may be a little cheaper somewhere else. I was lucky enough to find it on Forever first! When it arrived, I was very excited because it was all I hoped it would be -until I tried it on! The fit was perfect, but those slit sleeves?! Let’s just say, I’ll be staying away from this trend for life! I didn’t want to exchange the beautiful floral print, cutout accent, deep v neckline and overall one piece so I took it to my trustworthy tailor and had him sew up those unflattering sleeves! I paired it with flat sandals and my flea market find! You can also let you hair down and pair this romper with ankle strap heels for a night out on the town!

Are you feeling the slit sleeves trend?

Hope you all had a good Monday!

Big Red

I wear the color red all throughout the year. It’s a color that never goes out of style and everyone should have in their closet. In the summer I love to pair it with white, nude and more red. This look wouldn’t have felt the same without the matching red lipstick; playful, sexy and most importantly confidence. No look stands tall without confidence. Go out there and add red to your wardrobe if that’s what it takes to feel good.

How do you do red in the summer? What’s your favorite color year round?

TGIF! Have a beautiful weekend!

Living On The Wedge

I’m back from my mini girls trip, but I needed another day off for some peace and harmony. I always take an extra day before going back to work -it’s a necessity in my life! It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood so the best way to wind down was to head to the park and enjoy the scenery. Major fail! Bugs were under attack so I had to get out of there as soon as possible!

Even on my days off I like to be stacked up high. I wore my Bebe wedges with this floral number that I’ve worn before with a jacket for those cooler days. I love to find a piece of clothing I can easily transition into the next season; definitely more bang for your buck!

What is your favorite transition piece in your closet?

Happy Thursday!

Viva Las Vegas

I’ve been away for a few days and it’s been about two weeks since my last post, but now I’m ready to show you more inspirational summer outfits.

Here I am wearing matching separates. Ever since this new trend evolved last season I knew I had to have it. Crop tops are great and all, but the matching bottom makes it a 100 times better, especially if it’s a matching pencil skirt. You may think this particular set is too flashy for a daytime look and can only be worn in situations like Vegas, but that’s not the case. I bought this with the intention of wearing it during the day as well -the pencil skirt more than anything. Instead of the matching top, wear it with a white button down or crisp white tee to tone down the sparkles, a burgundy or nude lip -if you’re not into color lipstick during the day; keep the gold accessories: pumps or ankle strap it and you have yourself a work outfit for now or later (add a denim jacket)!

This is the only look from Vegas I could share. Next time (if another bachelorette party) I’ll make sure to bring my camera everywhere.

Happy Hump Day!

Wanderlust

This heat has everyone feeling all types of ways. For me it’s another tank top work day and yes you guessed it, another pencil skirt, but in this case the same red one worn a little differently. I chose to tuck in my top to emphasize my waist in a very polished way. My tank was too long for this idea and it showed more than I wanted to in the photos! You live and you learn! The best way to use the tucked in method with this type of skirt is to wear a bodysuit. Bodysuits give you smooth barely there lines. I like the combination of baby blue and bright red, but that’s all the colorblocking allowed. Pair your blues and reds with nude ankle strap heels for a sleek look. Feel free to add a fierce accessory: a statement necklace, a cuff or a cocktail ring with this look. Not all three!

How do you rock your pencil skirt? Are you feeling the ankle strap sandals this summer?

On That Blue Ocean Floor

Finally a day at the beach!

I’ve been so busy lately so I have to keep this short for now.  I bought this bikini via Gilt last year. Very light and comfortable, feels like you’re not wearing anything! Fits like a glove too! I wanted this New Yorker towel ever since I saw it on Nasty Gal’s website. It was just so me being that I too dropped my cellphone in water!

Have you all been to the beach lately? What type of swimwear do you like to wear? Has your cellphone ever taken the plunge?
