Peaches and Cream

They don’t call it Transformation Tuesday for nothing. The weather went from gloomy to beautiful instantly yesterday, I had no choice but to dress for the better part of it. I took a risk with cream colored flared pants. Normally a higher waist and a darker shade are much more flattering, but hey you only live once! I went with same color palette in a vintage snakeskin print semi-cropped bustier that only showed a tiny bit of skin and the nude favorite that go with everything. No black in sight. I suited it off with a DVF jacket. The rest of my lunch break I spent strolling through the streets of SOHO with my sister. Even went into Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams home store for inspiration. In love with their Bastille Chair!

How do you think I did with a light monochromatic look?

Will you ladies be wearing cropped tops this Spring/Summer?

Happy Hump Day! Happy Earth Day AND Happy Administrative Professionals Day!

All About That Lace

…’bout that lace, warm weather!  I chose to celebrate another day of Spring weather by experimenting with my sheer lace dress. I paired it with two different statement earrings and two different pair of shoes; the pointed toe pumps adds elegance, while the fringe booties brings out the boho in me. Although lace is classic print, it is anything but boring. So don’t be afraid to mix prints, styles, and colors with your favorite lace piece, even if you start small with adding accessories to complete your look.

Mother Nature is throwing New York City a bone tomorrow, with a high of 75 degrees!!!!! Make sure to seize the day! :)

Which look is your favorite?

Happy Friday! Weekend is here!

Keeping the Spark Alive…

…In the Daytime

Do you ever feel so accustomed to your 9-5 grind, that the wear down reflects your clothing? Whether you love your day job or not, sometimes getting dressed for work becomes work. Yes, even I get a little uninspired. It seems like spring has sprung everywhere, but the East Coast and you just can’t help feeling gloomy.

So, today’s outfit I decided to add a little sparkle to my ensemble. My jacket literally sparkled, covered in tiny and subtle, light reflecting sparkles. I love a well rounded peplum like this one I found for a steal at Forever 21, just under $35. Needless to say I didn’t stop there with the sparkles. My rings were blinged out, and my shoes shined bright like a diamond. However, I made sure my pencil skirt was sleek and simple for a sophisticated finish.

I’m praying that it can warm up for good -for some more open toe, leg baring situation.

How do you all think I pulled off daytime sparkle? Would you wear sparkle accents or sequins to the office?

On Easter We Wear Black…

…and a little bit of pink. There wasn’t much plan for Easter this year. I’m still trying to built a closet in my room which is taking forever to complete, but I’m hoping soon I can share some of that experience with you all. I love to organize closets, but boy (and girl) it’s a lot of work.

I remember back when I was little, my mom used to dress me and my younger sister up in white shoes and floral dresses. Those were the days. Now I wear white shoes, but not so much floral in my closet like I used to. I still went for a little bit of pink for an early Easter dinner at Tryon Public House with this jacket from H&M, I think it must be over 10 years old. Tweed jackets and/or blazers will always be in my wardrobe, just take a look at Chanel fashion shows, year, after year, after year and Anna Wintour -the number one fan of Chanel tweed jackets. They are and will always be a fashion staple…statement in my book. I combined more fabric and textures to the equation: chiffon, (faux) leather and suede. Every piece had its moment to shine on Easter Sunday.

What did you think of my bunny holiday get up? What’s your Sunday best look?

It’s raining in New York, but I’m checking up on that warm weather like my life depended on it! What are your warm weather plans this year?

Loosened Up My Buttons

I’m baaaaack! A casual look is the best way to welcome the warmer temperatures, albeit temporary.

I’m passing by quickly today with a 5 piece suit: button down shirt, boyfriend jeans, ankle strap shoes, a cuff bracelet and stud earrings that I recently purchased at the LOFT. I left my button down shirt with an extra button undone to sweeten up my boyfriend jeans. Normally I wear dainty necklaces to distract from the open buttons, but this time I let my still going strong tan shine through. Wearing my jeans cuffed or frayed (which I did to these Levi’s pair) at the bottom with these Rebecca Minkoff ankle strap shoes gives the look a little more character. I think this may be my go to off duty look, what do you think?

What is your off duty look? How do you wear your button downs?

Plaid Werk

Experimenting with clothes has always been a passion of mine. Sometimes I can wear a trend and make it my own, but not all trends are made equal. There’s just some trends that don’t suit my style and that’s okay because I’d rather stay true to myself.

As I get closer to 30, I’ve eliminated clothes that just aren’t me anymore, but a trend that I will never grow out of is the 90’s trend. Maybe it’s because I lived through it. Of all the 90’s trends, my favorite is most definitely plaid. The shirt that will always be in my closet has to be this red and black plaid flannel, it’s a bold accent to even the most casual outfits. I love to wear it tied around the waist more than anything. To make the ensemble look a little grown, I wore my favorite ankle strap heels for that extra push. You know that extra touch…especially with the red lip. ;)

Do you have a statement piece that always does it for you? Do you go mad for plaid? Is it the only thing keeping you warm these days?

April is just a couple of days away…
Happy Friday my fellow Budgeters!
