It’s amazing what thrifty treasures you can find. At my neighborhood thrift shop, I managed to find this sexy cowl neck style top. Unfortunately, it went out of business a few months ago and I haven’t found another one close to me. Ever since I was a little girl my mother always shopped at thrift stores. She says you can find anything and everything in thrift stores. She wasn’t wrong. I love a good thrift find no matter how much digging I have to do. I’ll be sure to visit some thrift stores in Brooklyn this summer, I hear there are some great ones. The grey jeans and nude pumps complimented the blue, while the snakeskin bag brought all the colors together.

My look today is more relaxed as we get closer to the weekend. There’s nothing like your ‘boyfriend’ clothes. ‘His’ jeans are so comfortable, ‘his shirt’ hangs loose enough to lounge in, it’s a match made in heaven. The look wouldn’t be complete without my Pour La Victoire heels, of course. For me no look is complete without a pair of heels. It’s my first time wearing them since I bought them 5 months ago! They are the chic-est shoes my feet ever met. To finish the look I wore my Jean Paul Gaultier for Target trench coat, my very first piece of collaboration clothing purchased four years ago. As you know, trench coats are a must-have classic in your wardrobe. They are timeless, yet always look fresh. Don’t you think?

Everyone is always intrigued by my “work” attire. These are the times where I’m feeling rebellious and show up like I did today: white ripped jeans, navy tucked in shirt, grey suede pumps and a necklace for a little office sparkle. Rarely do I come to work in the typical office uniform: slacks, button down shirt and a blazer. If I do, everyone at the office thinks I’m going on an interview getting ready to bail on them. Not even meetings require that kind of decency. There are no rules at my workplace about what you can and cannot wear, but I still seem to go the extra mile and wear what I feel comfortable in, even if it ripped jeans. Mondays and everyday calls for the rebel in me.

This past Saturday my family and I went to see my nephew play with his high school team at the Staten Island Yankees Stadium. It was a nice day for a ball game so I wore a baseball tee (duh) dress that I purchased last season from Forever 21. It was the fastest outfit decision I’ve made in a long time. I paired the dress with my Converse sneakers, my favorite sneakers to wear when I can’t wear my first love, heels! However, if I had dinner plans after the game, I would have paired the dress with my open toe Rachel Roy booties. Nevertheless I think I brought my A-game and showed my nephew the support he deserved at his first game the best way I knew how, through fashion and style.

The beautiful weekend weather rolled into Monday and I couldn’t be any happier. There is nothing like waking up at the beginning of the week with your clothes already picked out (oh yeah I do that sometimes) all while the sun is shining. This look has workwear written all over it: a flowy blouse, a pair of high heels and let me not forget the pencil skirt. Thank goodness for pencil skirts. They can be effortlessly sexy without even trying. I’m not a fan of workwear and if I had to stick to a certain uniform I would have to go with pencil skirts all the way. Who am I kidding? I love all skirts. As long as I’m looking like a lady, I’m feeling like a lady.

Before Sunday’s date night, I decided to take a walk near Astoria Park in Queens and take in a new scenery. Something else I did differently was pair mint green iridescent sandals as oppose to a classic black shoe to my pink and black outfit. When you look at the sandal from various angles or in the sunlight, it changes color, revealing pinkish hues to complement my look. Don’t be afraid to stray away from basic black.
Are you a basic black kind of girl or do you like to play around with color?
