Month: June 2014

One, Two, Three

Go USA! I wore a striped Henley dress with red pumps to show my support for the team. I’m not big soccer fan, but I love it when we can all come together for world sports events. Horizontal stripes are tricky and can only be pulled off if balanced correctly. Here I chose a midi dress because it was long enough to make me look long enough. You always want to look leaner, for a more flattering effect. If you want to add the cherry on top, pair your horizontal stripes with a sleek high heel for instant height!

What do you prefer? Vertical or horizontal stripes?

Have a great weekend!

Meet Your Match

As the summer moves along, you can’t help but to bring out the little bit of color you’ve already built up. Always choose a neon hue that compliments your skin tone; mine is hot pink or fuchsia.Today I double dosed on neon pairing the blazer with my Prabal Gurung for Target pumps for a top and bottom spark. Adding denim is one way to balance out the two colors without overwhelming or clashing the outfit. Adding a grey bodysuit like I did here is another way you can tone down the colors even more. If you want to wear a white or black top, stick to one neon color. I wear little or no jewelry when I’m in a highlighting mood, but feel free to accessorize as you wish.

How do you experiment with neon?

All I Want For My Birthday…

Is a sexy red dress. I love, love, love red dresses. They make you look super hot without trying. Its such an eye-catching color and with this dress expect many compliments coming your way. The minute I saw this dress, I had to have it, I’ve been thinking about getting all the other colors too! I know its not cold outside, but these booties transition into the summer perfectly; they do not heat up your feet at all, besides they give this look a bit of a street style swag.

Trending this summer is dainty jewelry. I like to wear more than one necklace and make sure they each have a different charm. I’m very particular about chain lengths and thickness. For a perfect pile up, make sure there is just the right amount of space between them so that they don’t get tangled up in the front. Let each one be seen. The thinner the necklace the more delicate it will look.

It happened to be game night on Sunday so I felt like I needed to add more patriotic pieces to my look. I remembered I bought this cute little pouch last year for July 4th. I put it in my clear clutch and voila! Go USA!

How do you like the lady in red?

Grown Woman

Closer to the two-nine. I didn’t have fancy plans Saturday night, but I still made it a point to dress up, lipstick and all. This Kardashian Kollection jumpsuit is one of my favorite jumpsuits that I own and this is my second time dressing it up. I like the combination of black and gold, but since the gold pieces really stand out I didn’t want to over do it. Wide or thin belts can be worn with a jumpsuit, or none at all. You can choose to have the jumpsuit be the center of attention on its own, dressy or casual. One thing I’ve learned as I’ve grown into the woman I am today is that too look good or feel good, you don’t have to overload on accessories or make-up!! Keep it simple and chic! My favorite lipstick this summer is Eyeko Pretty London Liptastick  lip pen in Hot Lips. I’m loving lip pens right now, they’re not as messy as lipsticks, but matte or satin are best for those hot and muggy days.

Do you like to dress up or down your jumpsuits? What is your go to lip color this summer?

I’ll Show You How To Do This Young!

I normally don’t dress up on Fridays, but I wanted to start my birthday celebrations early. A little black dress is always your best choice if you have to come into work first. This one was easy to slip on and I had many other shoe options to choose from to pull a Friday night drinks with girlfriends look. I kept it cool with the booties instead of too sophisticated with pumps.  The ‘Birkin’ bag was a gift to my mother from a friend and I told her I wouldn’t mind holding onto it for the time being, you know, forever.

How do you wear your little black dresses?

So Hot in Herre

A pop of color to brighten up my summer wardrobe. I usually go for black or dark hues in blazers, but this summer is all about playing with color.  Sometimes just adding a bold color can change your appearance from dull to living! I’ve also been into pencil skirts a lot lately. They are perfect for the office (below) and you can pair it with a crop top and clutch for a night out. A white tank top or t-shirt should always be worn with nude undergarments for daytime appropriate attire; also tucking in your shirt gives an instant polished look. Then there’s the ankle-strap sandal, every woman should own a pair of the ‘Stecy’ sandal, these are easy to walk in and super sexy!

Have a beautiful weekend!

Blue Moon

This Kardashian Kollection for Sears denim skirt was a great way to start off my week. So far I’ve had a really good experience with the collection especially since you never know what to expect when purchasing online.

Denim on denim, in my case chambray on denim (there is a difference) is a trend that involves pairing two different colors of denim (or the same) or chambray paired with denim, some people may call it the Canadian Tuxedo. Chambray is much lighter with a noticeably criss-cross weave (basic technique), where denim is weaved diagonally giving it a thicker and heavier feel. They both come in different shades of blue and are both made out of cotton.  I usually go for shades not too distant from each other when paired together; I like to be able to have a few choices for accessorizing.  I’ve always liked mixing denim (and chambray), it’s definitely a trend worth giving a try. I paired my blue look with a vintage gold necklace from Alexis Bittar and my ShoeMint grey suede pumps. Nothing more, nothing less.

Are you feeling this trend?
