I’ve had this lace motorcycle jacket forever! My sister’s hair stylist (thank you Gladys!) thought she would be the best candidate for it 6 years ago! Wrong! I totally took control over it and kept it for myself. Only thing is, exactly that -it’s been 6 years! We’ve thought about dying it another color – of course black. Shaking my head! I can tell you it’s not like we weren’t into fashion then we just saw this piece as one of a kind and we didn’t want to f*** it up! How were we going to style this maroon (remember that episode from Saved By The Bell) colored jacket? Up until this week it has been in the cleaners pile (we were serious about the dying) the whole time. Every Fall -it’s like okay it blends in to the current season, now what? Well the best way to style a piece you aren’t familiar with is to keep it within it’s color group. That’s exactly what I did.
I decided to wear my H&M high waist burgundy, maroon, wine, whatever you want to call it pencil skirt, but I knew I couldn’t just pull off the jacket without anything underneath. I found this wool cropped top at a market in Jersey for $5, so I played around a bit. The top and skirt looked great together so I really didn’t need the jacket. At this point I’m like should I just get rid of this jacket? No! Let me work something out. I threw on the jacket and voila! Perfect! Finally! Next was the shoes. I knew they had to be nude, but what kind of shoe? It was chilly, but warming up later on so I went with the nude lace up sandals I just received in the mail a few days ago that are super chic looking and affordable! I’m thinking about getting the black ones too, they are only $29.80! And there you have it. Sometimes you hold on to some pieces for so long, but you know you can’t let go of them just yet! Give it a chance, especially if you know so much more can come from it.
Do you hold on to pieces of clothing for too long? That you’ve never worn?
Are you wearing your Fall colors already? How are you feeling this weather?
Happy Hump Day!
