A Sai of Hoodie

Sometimes we see loungewear as just that, lounge-wearBUT -don’t you ever feel like you want to feel comfortable in something comfortably sexy too?

So for this laid back look, I cut up my leggings into capris -I just felt like the color needed to be cut down a bit and a little bare leg never hurt anybody. My men sized hoodie was long enough to cover the booty, the longer the better ladies (and gentlemen)! You can even get them as big and long as you want to wear as a dress with over the knee boots – SEX-Y! Speaking of sexy, the heels were the perfect compliment to the hoodie’s side silver zipper (so sorry there’s no close up, I promise there will be a next time).

Sexy (there’s that word again) and comfy is my mood as of late, will you join me?

How’s your hoodie collection stacking up?

Love, BudgetSai

Come Alive in the Fall Time

We all wish it was still Summer, but in the end there’s something about the crisp weather that excites us to want to wear some really cool jackets. It’s challenging when it’s cold enough to bundle up 3 layers up and then have to take off 2 when it’s warmer in the afternoon, but that’s just part of the fun. Don’t complain too much about the heat fading away, you’ll miss out on the leather and sweater weather -real quick.

I paired my new found love with boyfriend jeans, a bodysuit I’ve been dying to wear… like every other new thing in my closet yet to make its debut. Not even the cooler temperatures will make me forget about my bodysuits, only now layering it will keep me warm, but still keeping it sexy. 😉

The shoes were also supposed to be a Summer staple because of its color, but remember there are no rules when you really Fall in love with fashion. This season I’m willing to give up the darks for the bright side. Oh yeah!

These jeans? Love! You will definitely see more of the boyfriend, torn, distressed, like you got into a huge fight and you won cause you kept them look. 😉 They are comfortable no matter what size you are. Throw on a bodysuit or a baggy sweatshirt and pose, but please have on some killer heels. Pretty please?

How do you transition your summer pieces in the Fall? Who’s stacking up their bomber jacket collection?

xoxo, BudgetSai

PS- I have to start thinking about my Halloween costume. Any suggestions?

The Arrival

Autumn has finally arrived! However, the heat is still lingering, that still gives you time to set all your Summer clothes aside, pick and choose your transition pieces and prepare your Fall wardrobe. Things you can keep for fall? Open toe shoes.
The fashion world has brought out trends where women are wearing sandals in the cold (bravery if you ask me), sandals with socks (smarter) and pairing it with Summer/Fall friendly looks.
Back when I was younger, anything opened around your toes after Summer was a no no. I’m glad not only is it “allowed”, but that we are more open to expanding our choices each and every season.
For example on my last post I wore those Schutz very high heeled sandals, the first time I ever wore them all Summer -I didn’t want it to be my last. I took a stand for all the open toes out there and I put together a Fall (but still kind of warm) look. I set aside a versatile piece like a denim skirt and paired it with some of my favorite Fall staples: Summer scarf, button down shirt and completed it with a fringe handbag.
I played around with the color scheme starting with the shoe because it was the one piece I did not want to let go of for this outfit (to prove my point). I saw lots of camel, tan, the dark blue from the skirt and the olive green of the shirt complimented those colors. Perfect first day of Fall. How do you think I pulled it off?
What trends are you looking forward to trying in the fall? Any Summer items making its way into your fall wardrobe?

Please Me…

That’s the color of my lipstick .

A blazer over a bodysuit under what I like to call ‘real boy’ shorts and open toe booties is my definition of office style with a side street.  I am always trying to find a balance between the two.

How do you think I pulled off this look? Would you wear bermuda shorts to the office?

Two Can Play That Game

Taking advantage of this week’s warm weather in a knee length turtleneck dress, not one but two ways.

The first outfit is how I would normally walk to work everyday, in something flat for comfort. Usually I can brave the concrete jungle in 4 maybe even 5 inch heels, but lately I’ve been preserving my feet as much as I can (they can really take a beating in heels). My sister gave up one of her brand new beanies seconds before my day’s outfit photos and I quickly snatched it out of her hands. Perfect timing! I threw on MY beanie and played it cool for the camera. Thanks Mayger!

Taking off the beanie and my converse was the next step (the secret?) to get to outfit number two. A sexy side to the turtleneck dress that I paired with nude patent pumps and a long cardigan for the superwoman affect. American Apparel clothing is very versatile and I love them for that. I know I can do even more with the black one, I’m coming for ya!

Which of the two looks is your favorite?  Are you a fan of American Apparel? I like to pass by on Halloween to see all the costume ideas the employees come up with just American Apparel pieces.

Can’t wait for tonight’s Halloween parade. 🙂

“…This Is Known As Fashion Week”

The last day of fashion week SS 2014 happened to be my second time ever at a fashion show. The first time I was offered an invite to a designer’s menswear collection viewing. I couldn’t pass on the opportunity and it was probably the beginning of my fashion dreams. This year I thank a fellow Stylist for inviting me to her friend’s fashion show this year and allowing me to be a part of an experience I hope to live forever.

For the Sarango New York fashion show on Union Square, I chose to wear a black body hugging slip dress. Stephanie’s collection was going to be full of pastel and earth tones (from a sneak peek Instagram post) so instead of blending in with the models, I wore Anna Wintour’s not so favorite color (check out her answers to more of the 73 questions with Vogue via Youtube!) It was so humid out, black was the perfect color to cover any sweat marks! If any! Ha!

I kept my makeup light, but glowing by using Nars ‘Silk Road‘ (my all time favorite special occasion eye shadow), Nars Larger Than Life ‘Gold Digger‘ Lip gloss over Chanel Rouge Coco ‘Superstition’ lipstick and Dior Vernis ‘Or Divin’ nail lacquer. I added some new dainty jewelry to match my golden makeup; Rebecca Minkoff ankle strap sandals I got at Marshall’s for lees than $100 (one of my many Fall shoe additions) and a BCBGMAXAZRIA envelope clutch I got as a gift. I enjoyed every minute of the show and expect to purchase one or two pieces once the collection is available online. I snapped some photos after the show, check them out below.

Happy Monday Everyone!

Showered In Snake

I had such an amazing time at Diana’s bridal shower. Such a warm and welcoming feeling at Angelina’s Cafe with friends and family of the the bride to be. The tables were delicately adorned with all the necessary tableware, the place was just the right size for about 40 fabulous women, and spacious enough for photos. The menu had 4 options for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Whatever you were in the mood for, it was available. We played fun games that brought us all closer with one another before the big day. What I like about bridal showers is that it gives you the opportunity to get to know the people around you because you’re all present to share the two special people’s happiness and love….

Okay! Enough with all that mushy stuff! For Ms. Diana’s bridal shower I chose a snakeskin print flowy dress, grey pumps and the beautiful Mrs. Birkin. The showers ended before the bridal shower so instead of going with all black (like I originally planned), I thought I would bring out a year round trend and pair it with similar colors: snake print. As I become more familiar with thrift shops and flea markets, I’ve learned that you will always find something you can wear now and later. This dress can transition into Fall with a boot (knee high, over the knee and even booties), but for now I chose a grey suede pump and bright red nails to keep the summer vibe.

Don’t get me wrong I love leopard, but snakeskin is slithering its way to my heart. Will you rock some snake print this Fall?
