all black everything

No Stars, Just Stripes

As many of you know I’ve been in “blog post hiding” for the past couple of months, but a girl’s got to recharge her batteries once in a while. On Instagram, I was throwing back outfit photos because I live for a great theme/series. It was also a way to remind myself that I love dressing up and share it with all of my followers. During this time I was focused on my health, moving, moving on and peace within me. I’ve made some progress in all these things. At 33, losing weight is a struggle mainly because of so many distractions, but I’ve managed to stay on the right path and it starting to show. I’ve moved 4 times as an adult and boy is it a never ending chore. I got rid of so much clutter because starting out fresh was my ultimate goal. I want to invite my followers into my new home through social media once in a while. Connecting with others is something I’ve always wanted to do as a blogger. My home is where I feel the most comfortable and if I can express myself openly in that type of environment then I can build that same confidence, be totally honest and become more personal when I’m blogging.

Moving on, well it’s been a long time coming. I look forward to new beginnings and to live happily ever after. Sharing some of my personal issues on my blog along with telling you about what I’m wearing makes me feel complete.

The beginning of Summer can be very tricky when deciding what to wear. For some strange reason on the second day of Summer (my birthday) the weather went from cool to hot to cool to rain. I didn’t let the weather ruin my mood so, I still showed up to MY day. I wore a bodysuit underneath and a longline blazer over just in case a breeze or two came through. The color black solves almost all my problems. It did start to rain, but it didn’t show on my clothes, so we were able to continue shooting my outfit. I wore my favorite black jeans and a pair of leopard booties I’ve had forever. If I can still fix them up 5 years from now, you better believe they will stick around. Now if they fall apart, of course they’ll have to go. I like to find replacements almost identical before I let something go. That only goes for materialistic things, you get me? 😉

I was able to get a blow out (my hair is naturally curly, but I’m sure you already know that) and keep it that way for a few days before the humidity forced another wash. The cuff is an oldie, but always a goodie in the jewelry department. It always makes me feel like I have some sort of super power. That, and the bag brightened up the all around matte look.

Summer’s finally here and I’m already drenched.

What is your favorite trend of this sweaty season?

Have a lovely Fourth of July!

-Sai

First Comes First

One week down, 51 more to go! This past week the city froze over so that only meant one thing for me: home sweet home. I took the time to relax and gather my thoughts. Think about how to keep my family together, think about what I want in love, and think about my first love: my blog AND my future.

How can I keep my followers entertained, intrigued, wanting more from ME? How can I not get sidetracked with the outside influence surrounding me? What do I want? I’m going through changes in my life and I would like to take you all along for the ride. So hold on to your Winter hats!

One thing is certain, I will make my days count. And I’ll do so with glitz and glamour. First (comes first) outfit of the year…

In sparkles none the less. I stole this look from the boys because I was sick and tired of wearing a dress every New Year’s Eve and every special occasion -BUT in whatever you choose to wear, this holiday calls for all things sexy. I did so by opting out wearing anything underneath the tuxedo blazer. I mean it’s 2018, take risks, pretty please. Also why not wear the pants? It was perfect way to end the year and start a new one, ‘con los pantalones bien puesto’ (translation: pants well put on). What do wide leg pants need? The perfect Brian Atwood platform peep toe heel. They have just the right amount of color to liven up an otherwise standard monochrome look.

I’m not one to brag, but yes I am. My New Year’s Eve makeup was all done by me! Okay nothing that special, but I’m beginning to love eye shadow!

Who wants to see beauty posts in 2018? How is the new year treating you?

Bitter Sweet 16

It took so long for me to write the last post of the year, but I am here and ready to move forward.

2016 took me on a roller coaster ride: the lows sunk me at times where I felt stuck, the twists and turns shook me to my core, and the highs although there were a few, did not reach the heights I aspire to be.

So much so that it has reflected upon my outfits; I totally took advantage of the whole hoodie and sweatpants trend (thank you, Athleisure)

In life, there are the days you wake up and find devilish energy on your back. If you let it, it creeps its way up to the right side of your shoulder and cranks up the negative thoughts and feelings so loud that all you can do to make it through the day is grab a pair of sweatpants.
I’ve been MIA, but I have done some reflecting. I realized that if you don’t believe in yourself, no one ever will and your world and your dreams will begin to crumble right before your eyes.

From now on I’m going to turn the crumble into glitter and sprinkle my way through the fashion world one budget outfit at a time.

This outfit goes back to Christmas Eve. I took a basic velvet number -added a cape and choker. I was channeling my inner superhero. I love the new lightweight trenchcoats and cardigans, it adds effortless drama to even the most casual looks.

2017 is here, how is it going so far?

Always remember to set your own pace and not sweat the small stuff…

Love, BudgetSai

The Blacklist

The color black has become a staple in my wardrobe. When I wear black from head to toe, it’s much more than just a “safe choice”, it’s a state of being. I feel in control and wear it like armor. Black is a color with many faces. Black can be chic, sleek, and sexy. Black may be boring to some and even (gasp!) faux stylish, but in my opinion it takes a real fashionista to rock the same color over and over and keep it fresh.

This winter, I’ve been playing around with texture. I’m currently loving the return of the 90’s, especially the lingerie inspired looks. So, I chose this Bebe silky loose bodysuit with a deep-v opening to go with my pencil skirt. The dress code at my job is thankfully…liberal (lol). Buttons or no buttons, this is the perfect kind of top you want to wear if you have plans after work.

The AltuzarraxTarget snake skin print pencil skirt, the thigh high suede boots and my lush faux fur coat are all sexy in their own right, together they may be too much, but when it comes to black I’m a firm believer that more is more.

My advice for you -take some time during the weekend and plan out outfits and more importantly try it on! Basic items in your closet can be upgraded using different textures and shapes. Start thinking of your closet as a wardrobe and not just “that thing that holds your clothes”. The more you make what you have work harmoniously, the better you will shop. So pull out those “boring” work slacks and just throw every top/shoe/accessory you own its way! Play with colors (if you like) or see how many monochromatic looks you can come up with.

Happy Thursday!

The blonde has me wearing mostly black these days. Everyday, actually. All. Black. Everything. And everything again.

Please Me…

That’s the color of my lipstick .

A blazer over a bodysuit under what I like to call ‘real boy’ shorts and open toe booties is my definition of office style with a side street.  I am always trying to find a balance between the two.

How do you think I pulled off this look? Would you wear bermuda shorts to the office?
