Lucky Number 1985

On June 22, 1985 a star was born. Born to shine; let me shine, let me shine, let me shine. Today’s post is a special shout out to all the 1985 babies like me!

Behind everyone’s outfit is a story to tell.

I always want to tell you all from where and how I put an outfit together. I had been eyeing this 1985 shirt ever since it was on the site…but not for sale. So you’re asking yourself how is that even possible?

Well what it looks like H&M does is they will style certain pieces that ARE for sale with other pieces that are NOT for sale -yet. Not sure what is behind this madness, other than causing me stress and anxiety.

So weeks later, I say to myself, I want to wear this for one of my birthday festivities which was getting really close, so I’m going to call them up -but let me check the site one last time! And there it was! Available for purchase! When it’s meant to be, you’ve got to believe it will be.

I don’t necessarily buy t-shirts already tied up because I like to make my own decisions on how to wear an article of clothing, but thank you H&M for the suggestion and the birth year. So I knew I was to wear a high waist something with this top. That something was an H&M satin high waist skirt with a high low hem that I already had hanging in my closet. It was just the right amount of peek-a-boo between the knot of the shirt and the skirt.

Now for the shoes: I came across these shoes in the clearance department, somewhere I never bother going into because I don’t have much luck there. Actually now that I think about it, I don’t have luck with shoes at all at T.J. Maxx. My 7 1/2 foot is a popular size. Also the selection is one of the smallest, so what you see is what you’re gonna get. What caught my eye was the height of the shoe. The print was very cutesy -not necessarily my cup of tea BUT they were black and after trying them on, I thought it could go places with this pair. I mean DVF for $69, I’ll take it! And guess what guys? I haven’t taken them off all Summer Seventeen.

It was pretty sunny this day so I went with a pair of big, bold, black sunglasses. They made the look extra sassy. And who doesn’t want to be extra or sassy on their born day?

On a scale from one to ten, how much sass do you pizzazz?

What trends are you following and which one would you like to see me in next?

Almost All Everything

Ready for the weekend? I know I am! I’m also ready to get back into my all black everything wardrobe. Fall can you hear me? It’s been way too hot in NYC and although they say the best color to stay cool in is white, I stick to black (because no sweat marks and no sheer catastrophes!). This right here was also another birthday outfit worn during the day for my nephew’s high school graduation. The graduation was outside in the blazing heat, so I had no choice, but to wear black andย not look drenched as many did. I love how it ‘fits like a glove’ and accentuates every single curve. If you got it, flaunt it, but don’t sweat it, literally.

Instead of going almost all black from head to toe, I dipped my feet into a classic white leather pump (and Edelman Icon) and a seductively red pout for that POP to POP that thang.

My hair was a no brainer, again with the heat I like to pull my hair back in a sleek bun to avoid frizz. This look reminds me of the Simply Irresistible video. Watch it!

A big congrats to my nephew who is going to Rutgers University to pursue a career in professional baseball. ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy Weekend Team No Sweat! Stay Cool!

The Weeknd On A Weekday

Every year I make it a point to go The Weeknd’s concert when he’s playing in New York. It’s become sort of a Fall tradition. I’ve been a fan of his music since day 1: his moody r&b beats paired with raunchy raw lyrics has taken him from underground to mainstream. As a fan, I’m excited to go along for the ride because the music speaks for itself even with his widespread success. Just like his musicality has progressed over the years, so has my concert style!

There are those who still rock a concert tee to concerts, but I like to incorporate an accessory that represents him as an artist. If you’re as big a fan as I am, you know that the Weekend always rocks camouflage. So for the Madness tour, I decided to wear my camo high heel pumps. He also likes to wear dark colors, mostly black. So in similar fashion, I kept it dark in a black turtleneck, ripped jeans and those camo pumps. It was a bit chilly at times so I brought along my plaid fleece for warmth and a pop of color.

I finished off my outfit with sunglasses and slicked back hair, it’s become my signature look in my adjustment to being blonde.

Who’s your favorite artist? Who’s tour are you excited to see this Fall/Winter season?

What are your Thanksgiving Day Plans?

Storm King

In the middle of a crazy week, sometimes you need a B R E A K. Even the smallest getaways can become a great escape from that pile of work that just never seems to disappear. At Storm King, an outdoor art exhibition in New Windsor, New York about an hour from the City, I discovered a taste of art and nature I never knew I needed. A breath of fresh air to help cope with city polluted thoughts that can drag you down in your everyday life. It was the most relaxed and calm I have felt in a while.

I paired my zen outlook with a messy air dried bun, comfortable jeans, a white tee and Converse sneakers. The cardigan or what I like to call a coatigan was the thrift shop finishing touch: the vibrant colors reminded me so much of the Fall and it was warm enough to throw on and go. The fringe was on- trend and gave an added playfulness to the outfit.

I enjoyed my day trip to the Storm King Art Center. I highly recommend it if you love art, nature, and maybe even a hike if you’re feeling adventurous!

What are some of your favorite getaways?

Dime- A -Denim

As you can see…my denim obsession is alive and well. It’s my go-to look if I’m rushing in the morning or just having a lazy day. Some may call it safe, but I call it classic.

Happy First Day of New York Fashion Week! Hope to see denim looks on the runway! ๐Ÿ™‚
