Sometimes you’re running around looking for a new outfit for the holidays when you suddenly remember there may be a few options in your closet that need a redo. You don’t want to spend money on another piece of clothing that you’re only going to wear once! I know it may be boring to repeat a dress or shoes or both, but if Kate Middleton can do it and style it the same way every single time, you can too. -but better. Here I took 4 pieces I have worn in the past (1, 2, 3, and 4) and brought them together to give you Thanksgiving Day love.
How is everyone celebrating the holidays this year?
Him. Last night I celebrated his birthday at our favorite Italian restaurant, Isle of Capri. Fine dining and best of all great service. Then we walked over to the fifth avenue holiday window displays to get into the Christmas spirit. I really love to see what they come up with every year; Bergdorf Goodman’s theme is The Arts: Music, Literature, Dance etc. Birthdays are always a celebration -another year alive and well. For me, that’s reason enough to dress up. The weather was awful. Rainy, gloomy days are a drag to get dressed for. However, for a special person like he is, I put on my very best. This Altuzarra for Target dress is just the beginning of holiday party looks…
How do you celebrate birthdays? Do you dress up or is it just another day for you?

I’ve had this lace motorcycle jacket forever! My sister’s hair stylist (thank you Gladys!) thought she would be the best candidate for it 6 years ago! Wrong! I totally took control over it and kept it for myself. Only thing is, exactly that -it’s been 6 years! We’ve thought about dying it another color – of course black. Shaking my head! I can tell you it’s not like we weren’t into fashion then we just saw this piece as one of a kind and we didn’t want to f*** it up! How were we going to style this maroon (remember that episode from Saved By The Bell) colored jacket? Up until this week it has been in the cleaners pile (we were serious about the dying) the whole time. Every Fall -it’s like okay it blends in to the current season, now what? Well the best way to style a piece you aren’t familiar with is to keep it within it’s color group. That’s exactly what I did.
I decided to wear my H&M high waist burgundy, maroon, wine, whatever you want to call it pencil skirt, but I knew I couldn’t just pull off the jacket without anything underneath. I found this wool cropped top at a market in Jersey for $5, so I played around a bit. The top and skirt looked great together so I really didn’t need the jacket. At this point I’m like should I just get rid of this jacket? No! Let me work something out. I threw on the jacket and voila! Perfect! Finally! Next was the shoes. I knew they had to be nude, but what kind of shoe? It was chilly, but warming up later on so I went with the nude lace up sandals I just received in the mail a few days ago that are super chic looking and affordable! I’m thinking about getting the black ones too, they are only $29.80! And there you have it. Sometimes you hold on to some pieces for so long, but you know you can’t let go of them just yet! Give it a chance, especially if you know so much more can come from it.
Do you hold on to pieces of clothing for too long? That you’ve never worn?
Are you wearing your Fall colors already? How are you feeling this weather?
Happy Hump Day!
