Bitter Sweet 16

It took so long for me to write the last post of the year, but I am here and ready to move forward.

2016 took me on a roller coaster ride: the lows sunk me at times where I felt stuck, the twists and turns shook me to my core, and the highs although there were a few, did not reach the heights I aspire to be.

So much so that it has reflected upon my outfits; I totally took advantage of the whole hoodie and sweatpants trend (thank you, Athleisure)

In life, there are the days you wake up and find devilish energy on your back. If you let it, it creeps its way up to the right side of your shoulder and cranks up the negative thoughts and feelings so loud that all you can do to make it through the day is grab a pair of sweatpants.
I’ve been MIA, but I have done some reflecting. I realized that if you don’t believe in yourself, no one ever will and your world and your dreams will begin to crumble right before your eyes.

From now on I’m going to turn the crumble into glitter and sprinkle my way through the fashion world one budget outfit at a time.

This outfit goes back to Christmas Eve. I took a basic velvet number -added a cape and choker. I was channeling my inner superhero. I love the new lightweight trenchcoats and cardigans, it adds effortless drama to even the most casual looks.

2017 is here, how is it going so far?

Always remember to set your own pace and not sweat the small stuff…

Love, BudgetSai

Two Can Play That Game

Taking advantage of this week’s warm weather in a knee length turtleneck dress, not one but two ways.

The first outfit is how I would normally walk to work everyday, in something flat for comfort. Usually I can brave the concrete jungle in 4 maybe even 5 inch heels, but lately I’ve been preserving my feet as much as I can (they can really take a beating in heels). My sister gave up one of her brand new beanies seconds before my day’s outfit photos and I quickly snatched it out of her hands. Perfect timing! I threw on MY beanie and played it cool for the camera. Thanks Mayger!

Taking off the beanie and my converse was the next step (the secret?) to get to outfit number two. A sexy side to the turtleneck dress that I paired with nude patent pumps and a long cardigan for the superwoman affect. American Apparel clothing is very versatile and I love them for that. I know I can do even more with the black one, I’m coming for ya!

Which of the two looks is your favorite?Β  Are you a fan of American Apparel? I like to pass by on Halloween to see all the costume ideas the employees come up with just American Apparel pieces.

Can’t wait for tonight’s Halloween parade. πŸ™‚

Not Your Average School Girl

I’ve been trying to get my closet organized for weeks. This past weekend I finally got to separate some stuff and really see what I actually have. Yesterday as I was feeling those Monday blues, I decided to go to Forever 21 on my lunch break to add more to my closet. Retail therapy; it works every time.

I came across this cute little cardigan that I had on my wishlist; a grey cropped cardigan with a white ‘sheer woven silk back panel’. I thought pairing a solid color pencil skirt would look good, but that a black one might be too plain. Even though I never really tried it on with the pencil skirt, in that moment I felt like I can find something else, something with a little more movement.

At this point, I was ready to exchange it, but I looked deeper into my closet. I saw the Phillip Lim for Target skater skirt that I’ve only worn once in the fall and decided to try it on. I added ankle strap pointy pumps for less of a catholic school girl look. More times than none you will find me wearing fall pieces in the spring, mostly because colors like black, grey and navy are year-round workwear colors.

Do you stick to a color palette for work?

Happy Hump Day!
