Sunburst Cookies Light Up My Day

Another day, another outfit and yet another birthday celebration. This time I went to dinner with my crazy, but lovely family. Summer birthdays are fun, but tricky when it comes to finding something to wear. It’s so hot, you’re afraid of sweat marks ruining your look. I have this fear every Summer. It’s okay to sport the wet look at a pool or the beach -it’s not okay to look like you came out of water for your birthday dinner. So I put that all aside, put on my brave girl cap and went with yellow, instead of the my usual black. Yellow – the color of the sun and Starburst candy. It’s the color everyone stays away from, the same way they treat the yellow candy in the Starburst pack. I too feel this way about yellow. This was the first time I’ve ever worn something so powerful in color and I loved it. It didn’t wash me out and the silhouette hugged my body just right. I think I’m doing pretty good in the everything, but black department, what do you think? Am I the only one who finds color frightening? Should I keep testing the fashion waters with color?

According to these sources, vibrant pink is dying down, but if you still want to make a bold statement, all things are coming up yellow, like the sun (lol): nypost.com; whowhatwear.com.

I added snakeskin high heeled sandals to keep it toned down as I like to do, especially when wearing an article of clothing with this much attention. Dainty gold jewelry and a vintage Fendi bag completed one of many birthday looks.

How is everyone’s Summer coming along? Are you mostly in swimsuits and flip flops?

Have a great rest of the week!

Love, BudgetSai

TLC for your LBD

A little black dress goes a long way. You can’t go wrong with one no matter what the occasion. This LBD outfit was inspired by KKW on her trip to Cuba. I put this look together for a bachelorette party I attended 2 weeks ago. A bachelorette party or a club night is the only time you should go this short. Then of course there’s KKW that went sightseeing with all that sexiness. Instead of going for the choker with a cross like she did, I chose a heart locket velvet choker. Ever since I was little, I’ve had an obsession with hearts, so my 2 chainz moment both had pretty little hearts dangling from my neck. I kept my hair loose even though the heat made it impossible to keep it that way! Then there was the shoes: Stecy never lets me down. Ankle strap shoes are classy even with a mini dress. For a mini dress, I think the more delicate the shoe, the better. Stay away from platform shoes to avoid looking extra clunky and trashy. Also, opt for simple makeup for the girl who who wants to balance out her sexy.

Let that LBD shine!

Happy Hump Day!

Floral A Flare

Happy Monday!

When we think about 70’s fashion, we envision bell bottoms, bold prints, and very high wedge sandals. I took all three of these images and made it into one modern day outfit. I paired it with a biker jacket and classic wayfarers for a fresh spin on my otherwise very retro look.

How do you think I pulled off my second 70’s groovy-ness? What Spring trends have you tried lately?

Hope everyone has a groovy week!

Match Made In Heaven

It’s been too cold (freezing actually) in New York, and my photographer has been working on some other projects lately and will be for another week or so, but I’m finally back! The best way to improvise with such tragic conditions is to share my daily outfits from inside my apartment, which is still under renovations. I have very little furniture to move around and can easily use any wall for a back drop! (And he takes good photos too).
For a late night friend’s birthday dinner, I wore a very cool piece from H&M. Really, I fell in love with the thumb hole at the end of the sleeves and so I had to have it. It sort of looked like boxing gloves and made me feel real tough wearing it. Surprisingly this is something I can see myself wearing over and over again. My style is written all over it: black, has a turtleneck and fits like a glove.
How are you all on the East Coast surviving the cold?
What has been your go to clothing item this Winter?

Two Can Play That Game

Taking advantage of this week’s warm weather in a knee length turtleneck dress, not one but two ways.

The first outfit is how I would normally walk to work everyday, in something flat for comfort. Usually I can brave the concrete jungle in 4 maybe even 5 inch heels, but lately I’ve been preserving my feet as much as I can (they can really take a beating in heels). My sister gave up one of her brand new beanies seconds before my day’s outfit photos and I quickly snatched it out of her hands. Perfect timing! I threw on MY beanie and played it cool for the camera. Thanks Mayger!

Taking off the beanie and my converse was the next step (the secret?) to get to outfit number two. A sexy side to the turtleneck dress that I paired with nude patent pumps and a long cardigan for the superwoman affect. American Apparel clothing is very versatile and I love them for that. I know I can do even more with the black one, I’m coming for ya!

Which of the two looks is your favorite?  Are you a fan of American Apparel? I like to pass by on Halloween to see all the costume ideas the employees come up with just American Apparel pieces.

Can’t wait for tonight’s Halloween parade. 🙂
