No Stars, Just Stripes

As many of you know I’ve been in “blog post hiding” for the past couple of months, but a girl’s got to recharge her batteries once in a while. On Instagram, I was throwing back outfit photos because I live for a great theme/series. It was also a way to remind myself that I love dressing up and share it with all of my followers. During this time I was focused on my health, moving, moving on and peace within me. I’ve made some progress in all these things. At 33, losing weight is a struggle mainly because of so many distractions, but I’ve managed to stay on the right path and it starting to show. I’ve moved 4 times as an adult and boy is it a never ending chore. I got rid of so much clutter because starting out fresh was my ultimate goal. I want to invite my followers into my new home through social media once in a while. Connecting with others is something I’ve always wanted to do as a blogger. My home is where I feel the most comfortable and if I can express myself openly in that type of environment then I can build that same confidence, be totally honest and become more personal when I’m blogging.

Moving on, well it’s been a long time coming. I look forward to new beginnings and to live happily ever after. Sharing some of my personal issues on my blog along with telling you about what I’m wearing makes me feel complete.

The beginning of Summer can be very tricky when deciding what to wear. For some strange reason on the second day of Summer (my birthday) the weather went from cool to hot to cool to rain. I didn’t let the weather ruin my mood so, I still showed up to MY day. I wore a bodysuit underneath and a longline blazer over just in case a breeze or two came through. The color black solves almost all my problems. It did start to rain, but it didn’t show on my clothes, so we were able to continue shooting my outfit. I wore my favorite black jeans and a pair of leopard booties I’ve had forever. If I can still fix them up 5 years from now, you better believe they will stick around. Now if they fall apart, of course they’ll have to go. I like to find replacements almost identical before I let something go. That only goes for materialistic things, you get me? 😉

I was able to get a blow out (my hair is naturally curly, but I’m sure you already know that) and keep it that way for a few days before the humidity forced another wash. The cuff is an oldie, but always a goodie in the jewelry department. It always makes me feel like I have some sort of super power. That, and the bag brightened up the all around matte look.

Summer’s finally here and I’m already drenched.

What is your favorite trend of this sweaty season?

Have a lovely Fourth of July!

-Sai

V Day, Me Day

I wouldn’t say I’m a huge fan of Valentine’s Day, but yes I am (Drita voice). I love all the red and pink hearts and all that other visible mushy-ness that comes with Valentine’s Day. It’s not only about a significant other, it’s a day to spread love to all those that deserve to be loved. Most importantly? Yourself. Love is a happy feeling and a way I feel happy is by putting on my best or not (lol). This was the perfect dress for dinner plans after work. Totally appropriate and playful with a pair of heart socks and Mary Janes. Still Sunny outside? Don’t forget to add a pair of fun heart sunglasses.

What are your Valentine’s Day plans?

Do you dress up for the occasion?

Have a fun-filled long weekend!

Popular Demand

You all wanted to see me in this jumpsuit one more time so here it is and here I am! 🙂

This jumpsuit is definitely my go-to for date night, girls night, fun filled family gatherings, and even a quick run to the supermarket –any season goes! Today I chose a bootie and an overcoat for the cold weather. In the Spring you can wear it with high heeled lace up sandals, and during the Summer throw it over your swimsuit while letting it hang around your hips. I even like to wear it super casually with my favorite kicks aka sneakers. :p

This jumper suits (get it?) quite well with all vibes! So if you haven’t already, go get yourself one!

In Trench We Trust

Whether you’re into a trench coat or not, it comes in handy as a dress when your laundry isn’t done. Wrap it up, tie up and don’t loosen up any of your buttons. I paired them with my Fall friendly booties and added a belt of my own, you know just in case you want to go out after laundry day.

Ladies and gentlemen, a trench coat will never go out of style and it’s never too late to add one to your wardrobe. Rain comes and goes in all seasons and we should always be prepared for it, and look good while doing so.

I purchased this H&M coat years ago because it kept everything in place. Some trenches/raincoats aren’t that forgiving. And yes some of us wear it just for a moment, but this staple serves as a great foundation for a fashion moment. You’ll be less frustrated that there is a downpour, and I’ll be sure you’ll stand out from all the rest.

What are your favorite Fall staples? How would you update a timeless look?

Knight and Shining Armor

Today it finally feels like Fall! That means more blazers like this one; a silk satin neutral that you can throw on -over a T-shirt, a turtleneck, like a cape, or with nothing underneath (like me). Don’t worry folks, I wore a belt to avoid any nip slips.

Theses vintage Levi’s needed some work done so I went to my local tailor where he took it in for a high waist fit. The jeans needed some adjusting, but that’s where the belt came in to the rescue -yet again! Stores like Urban Outfitters and the Vintage Twin, sell redone denim like Levi’s and the best part about that is you’ll always get a one of kind pair. 😉

Considering how much my belt secured the overall look of this outfit, I felt confident. Maybe it was the hardware, maybe the week I just finished having or maybe I didn’t let anything hang out in the process! I plan to bring many more accessories into my Fall wardrobe which help in rotating my favorite pieces without it looking like you’re wearing the same look twice!

How do you like to wear your blazer? What is your favorite accessory? How are we all cooling down this weekend?

Have a happy one!

Another One Bites the Dust

It’s the middle of the week and we have high temperatures sticking around like it’s still Summer. The best way to deal is to have piece of outerwear handy if you’re planning to to be out longer in the night just in case, AND wear nothing underneath. Okay just kidding, but goodness this humidity. The temps will drop/rise unexpectedly from crazy to crazier. This has been your unofficial warning. Bring a jacket or not. Believe there will be Autumn.

This isn’t the first time you’ve seen me in a duster coat and this won’t be your last. The drama will forever continue. Throw it on like Batman, take off like you’re not -just hot. Sigh.

The outfit: off black shorts, a pastel green blouse to compliment the black and peep the details of both: frayed, sparkles and a wrap around waist. No plain Jane here. It’s like I created my own romper or matching set. And I love rompers.

I gave the option of going glam to casual with these 2 pair of shoes. The silver lace up POP, where the oxfords make it easier to walk in of course, but also very on trend. I’m loving the nerdy inspired shoes. For some reason I always feel like I have to add glasses to my look when I throw these on.

The last couple of outfits have made me feel sexier and accepting of who I am like no others have before. Maybe it’s the day, the week or the month, but what I do know is I wouldn’t want to change it for anything right now.

A Lip and A Slip Into the Weekend…

A lot of my outfits are inspired by my mood. So, when the weekend arrives, I feel free. Free to wear whatever I want, HOWEVER I want. I’ve been rockin’ gym gear all week, so after putting in work -in and out of the office, you deserve a little glamour on the weekends!

Ah, the slip dress. I don’t think i’ll ever get tired of this trend. Simple, sexy, and goes with just about anything. I’ve always been and will always be a heel gal, but for every outfit that goes with heel, there’s a sneaker back up plan. It’s the New Yorker thing to do.

I’m a plain Jane when it comes to makeup, but a burgundy lip will always be in my makeup bag and today I brought her out to play for the perfect match!

I’m still leaving my hair curly, what do you guys think of the change up?

What are you slipping into this weekend? New Yorkers how about this Summer extension? Are you feeling it?
