Thankful and Delightful

I can’t thank my family enough for all the memories that still bring us together on Thanksgiving Day and really everyday. I love them very much. And although I’m the silent one who only expresses herself in #ootd photos, I think about every single one and the few friends I have that have supported me and given me advice when I’ve wanted to give up. I am so thankful to have my lovely family around me all the time, without them I don’t know where I’d be.

This Thanksgiving, I encourage you to be grateful for each day as well as each moment of each and every day. Express your gratitude to those who you lift you up and show your their appreciation, love and respect.

Today I wanted to start out the holiday season with none other than sequins. I bought this top without anything else in mind, but a few racks down in the same store there were a pair of distressed, ripped I mean¬†torn up jeans. I’ve always like the dressy on top, casual bottom or vice versa so I took them, tried them both on at home and really all I needed was the shoes. I wanted something unexpected, dramatic -you know just like me so I went with the white after Labor Day.

Gasp!

Who cares?! It looked freakin’ good! Oh the bag was another total accident that turned out to be a winner. I had to go with a color and fabric that complimented the sequins – satin. Silky smooth, sexy and cool, satin.

Spread love and budget tips ūüėČ Happy Thanksgiving!

Love, BudgetSai

Come Alive in the Fall Time

We all wish it was still Summer, but in the end there’s something about the crisp weather that excites us to want to wear some really cool jackets. It’s challenging when it’s cold enough to bundle up 3 layers up and then have to take¬†off 2¬†when it’s warmer in the afternoon, but that’s just part of the fun.¬†Don’t complain too much about the heat fading away, you’ll miss out on the leather and sweater weather -real quick.

I paired my new found love with boyfriend jeans, a bodysuit I’ve been dying to wear… like every other new thing in my closet yet to make its debut. Not even the cooler temperatures will make me forget about my bodysuits, only now¬†layering it will keep me warm,¬†but still keeping it sexy. ūüėČ

The shoes were also supposed to be a Summer staple because of its color, but remember there are no rules when you really Fall in love with fashion.¬†This season¬†I’m willing to give up the darks for the bright side. Oh yeah!

These jeans? Love! You will definitely see more of the boyfriend, torn, distressed, like you got into a huge fight and you won cause you kept them look. ūüėČ They are comfortable no matter what size you are. Throw on a bodysuit or a baggy sweatshirt and pose, but please have on some killer heels. Pretty please?

How do you transition your summer pieces in the Fall? Who’s stacking up their bomber jacket collection?

xoxo, BudgetSai

PS- I have to start thinking about my Halloween costume. Any suggestions?

The Arrival

Autumn has finally arrived! However, the heat is still lingering, that still gives you time to set all your Summer clothes aside, pick and choose your transition pieces and prepare your Fall wardrobe. Things you can keep for fall? Open toe shoes.
The fashion world has brought out trends where women are wearing sandals in the cold (bravery if you ask me), sandals with socks (smarter) and pairing it with Summer/Fall friendly looks.
Back when I was younger, anything opened around your toes after Summer was a no no. I’m glad not only is it “allowed”, but that we are more open¬†to expanding our choices each and every season.
For example on my last post¬†I wore those Schutz very high heeled sandals, the first time I ever wore them all Summer -I didn’t want it to be my last. I took a stand for all the open toes out there and I put together a Fall (but still kind of warm) look. I set aside a versatile piece like a denim skirt and paired it with some of my favorite Fall staples: Summer scarf, button down shirt and completed it with a fringe handbag.
I played around with the color scheme starting with the shoe because it was the one piece I did not want to let go of for this outfit (to prove my point). I saw lots of camel, tan, the dark blue from the skirt and the olive green of the shirt complimented those colors. Perfect first day of Fall. How do you think I pulled it off?
What trends are you looking forward to trying in the fall? Any Summer items making its way into your fall wardrobe?

San Fran

A couple of weeks ago I went to visit my sister who moved to San Francisco. You guys might remember her as ZamnSam, aside from being my baby sister she was also my baby photographer. I’m used to tropical vacations where a bathing suit is your outfit of the day, everyday. San Fran was definitely not having that! My sister lives in Alameda, California, one of the warmer parts outside of San Francisco so I did bring one just in case and thank goodness I got to use it! Before that dip in the pool, my nephew and I enjoyed all the tourist spots, the Mechanics’ Institute Library and Chess Room with the spiral stairs , the Golden Gate Bridge, Lombard street, Steiner street and commuting via Bay Area public transportation. The difference from our NYC MTA was their Bart system -you have to swipe to get out too! You don’t know how many times I held up the line. Oops!

The library was a non-tourist attraction, but recommended by a fellow blogger and San Franciscan herself. A quiet environment which is a library with such a loud structure. Reminds me of me! ūüėČ

The Golden Gate Bridge -the lady in red in the flesh. The fog was amazing -how close it was to our faces as we walked on it, how long the bridge¬†really isn’t,¬† the seals down below and those views when the fog clears. Make sure you do wear long sleeves or long pants for the whole experience. The good part about the chill is as it hits your face, you can feel you’re wrinkles smooth out! The Bay area’s best kept secret to looking younger.

The colorful houses on Steiner street was the best backdrop for a photo. Too bad there was so many people viewing so no one wanted to get in each other’s photo, or at least I didn’t want anyone in mine. I did sit in front of a few. I totally thought the homes were empty, until a senior lady came out and asked if we can help her get her mail! That made the experience even better!

Lombard street was the scariest street ever. We hoped in an Uber from Steiner street and remained sideways in traffic. I quickly said no I can’t do this anymore. We got out of the Uber literally crawling out and up to the street instead. The reason people go to Lombard street is to be able to walk the crocked street. We went up then down and then up again. My favorite of this street or the area around it had to be the views from the Russian Hill, I admired these views more than the Golden Gate Bridge. Don’t get me wrong, first timers shouldn’t speak like this, but I don’t do well walking on (okay over) water. Lol.

Mid vacation week we had some good Chinese cuisine. The chef’s daughter, Kathy Fang was on none other than Chopped¬†(and won!) -so you know somethings got to give and it did. Delicious! You have to check out House of Nanking on a visit to San Fran.

At the mission district I was in taco and thrift shop heaven. The highlight of my trip was of course seeing my sister, but also scoring a $300 piece of clothing for $50! Winning!

Finally I get to tell you what I wore on this trip and why. Airport style always has to be comfortable so I opted for flats on my way there and sneakers on my flight back.

I stole the romper from a friend and I’m not giving it back. It was the perfect length without my ass hanging out throughout the whole walk on the bridge!

My pretty painted ladies houses I did in the nude, you know a nude bomber jacket and a nude bodysuit, but I covered up all that skintone¬†with my favorite denim cut offs. I like to keep my cut offs or this particular pair longer than the rest of them so I can fold it up and make them shorter. Sometimes you have a pair that are short and it’s just not the look you’re going for. Yes I have to say that I didn’t wear heels throughout my whole trip, but I just couldn’t with all that walking. I wore them strictly for night time purposes -from one Uber to the next.

The swimsuit was a total throwback, I was surprised it still fit! H&M this season had the same style in purple tones. I threw on those same shorts as cover up and the oversized denim jacket added that cool factor to the vibe I was going for: bad ass pool girl. Lol.

Leather jacket, army green dress, nude sandals were the beginning of what Fall in my closet is going to look like -and of course black, black, purple? I love this purple skirt and I had to try it out for this trip. Don’t get me wrong I never ignored the chilly weather, so the long sleeve bodysuit helped out a lot all while looking fab together with the rest of the ensemble.

Happy New York Fashion Week!

How To Think Pink In Your 30s

It’s been 2 weeks since the celebration of National Pink Day. There’s nothing wrong with being in the spirit of any National (insert here) Day. I love holidays/national days because it brings people together in a fun lighthearted way.

This little pink number was pretty easy to choose until I realized I didn’t have much to work with. I had no choice but to throw it back since I didn’t have the time to go shopping for something new. I’m trying to update and reinvent what’s already in my closet instead of resorting to making a new purchase.

So even though I’ve been working out lately, I was still hesitant about the crop top. The only way to hide the extra goods was with a high waist something. a light satin color blazer -to prevent from overpowering the pink and long enough for a leaner illusion. It felt or looked more like Spring all over again once I added flower-ful clutch.

What color do you feel the most “girly” in? What’s the guilty pleasure in your closet?

Check out my eBay: budgetsaiyou. Add more to your closet, from my closet!

Happy Shopping, Happy Weekend!

Olive You

Olive in my eyes is another neutral that can go with many things in your closet. It seals the deal on many outfits and it’s a lighter option for the warmer temperatures. Just like black, you can pair it with simple colors like white, nude, and navy. If you want to be a little more daring go for a monochromatic look and throw on a pop of fuchsia colored lipstick for a little summer sass. It’s my guilty pleasure and this jacket can be thrown over dresses, over tops, as a top, or heck you can even tie it around your waist if it gets too hot!

For my outfit I chose a cream colored bodysuit making it stand out more, but wearing all black underneath can still make this bomber look on trend. The denim skirt was and is another obsession of mine, I have about 5 different styles. The difference in this one is I made a choker out of it. I felt that this length/structure could have gone a little shorter so I took off the seam and went to my favorite tailor and…voila! Choker number 3589! This year’s trends are killing me! I love them! I can’t get enough of them!

Which color is constant in your wardrobe?

Who else is into reworking clothes you own? What have you made over recently?

Denim For Days

This H&M dress is super versatile, I pulled together 2 looks for you to try too!

The first one, I made super comfortable with my green converse (exact color below), and a heart choker (sweet, but S&M chic ;)) A very, very casual weekend look if you ask me.

The next ensemble¬†is with my dear silver lace up heels, they brought out the dress’s hardware, another way of styling your everyday looks; the bag and charms added a vibrant touch -it is Spring you know, why not embrace it? The length of the dress was perfect for us shorties: in flats you don’t have to look that short and in heels you look and feel¬†super tall!

What are all my readers up to on these warmer days?
Are you staying fresh in denim pieces?

Happy Hump Day!
