Sunburst Cookies Light Up My Day

Another day, another outfit and yet another birthday celebration. This time I went to dinner with my crazy, but lovely family. Summer birthdays are fun, but tricky when it comes to finding something to wear. It’s so hot, you’re afraid of sweat marks ruining your look. I have this fear every Summer. It’s okay to sport the wet look at a pool or the beach -it’s not okay to look like you came out of water for your birthday dinner. So I put that all aside, put on my brave girl cap and went with yellow, instead of the my usual black. Yellow – the color of the sun and Starburst candy. It’s the color everyone stays away from, the same way they treat the yellow candy in the Starburst pack. I too feel this way about yellow. This was the first time I’ve ever worn something so powerful in color and I loved it. It didn’t wash me out and the silhouette hugged my body just right. I think I’m doing pretty good in the everything, but black department, what do you think? Am I the only one who finds color frightening? Should I keep testing the fashion waters with color?

According to these sources, vibrant pink is dying down, but if you still want to make a bold statement, all things are coming up yellow, like the sun (lol): nypost.com; whowhatwear.com.

I added snakeskin high heeled sandals to keep it toned down as I like to do, especially when wearing an article of clothing with this much attention. Dainty gold jewelry and a vintage Fendi bag completed one of many birthday looks.

How is everyone’s Summer coming along? Are you mostly in swimsuits and flip flops?

Have a great rest of the week!

Love, BudgetSai

Allow Me To Re-Introduce Myself

Today I’m taking the time out to share some fun facts with all of my readers. An insight on what it’s like to be me!

  1. I love chocolate and bagels, never tried it together, but I’ll probably love it too.
  2. My astrological sign is Cancer and I truly am a Cancer in all aspects of the sign.
  3. I am a dog lover and just lost my love to shunt liver.
  4. Dirty 30 is coming at me in about 5 months, 5 days, 12 hours…
  5. I have 3 sisters; 2 older and one younger. I work with two out of the three and the oldest works in the same field, but a different location where I’ve also worked. Work, work, work ever since I was 13.
  6. Started babysitting at that age. I was the babysitters club.
  7. One thing I always carry in my bag besides my huge iPhone 6 Plus, wallet and keys is a prayer my dad gave me a few years ago. He said “take it everywhere you go for protection and don’t forget the $20 emergency cash too.”
  8. Speaking of dad, I am the spitting image of him. Scary. -__-
  9. I love all genres of music, but *Nsync was all I ever listened to in my teenage years.
  10. Speaking of those years, I went to an all girl high school, Notre Dame in the West Village. What an adjustment.
  11. I always wanted to be a dancer (because of Aaliyah first then Britney Spears). I would perform for family and friends whenever I learned their music video choreography.
  12. And an interior decorator because of my mother who always loved to decorate our home growing up.
  13. My favorite color is black, but I never like to decorate in black. Really weird.
  14. I’m a true New Yorker (explains the black obsession), I couldn’t see myself living anywhere else.
  15. I am a neat freak.
  16. I changed my own diaper as a baby. I am a neat freak.
  17. I’m crazy about shoes. I haven’t reached 100, but I do have 100 (more) in mind.
  18. I live in heels. If I could sleep in them I would. I like to feel tall at all times (I am barely 5′ 3”).
  19. I have a green thumb. Thanks to my mama.
  20. Favorite flower is the Rose.
  21. My hair is naturally curly, but I prefer straight locks.
  22. Yes I’m 29, who can’t drive, but loves to be driven. 🙂
  23. I love Italian food.
  24. My left side is my favorite side of my face, you can tell in the way I take my photos.
  25. I’m a sucker for sweatshirts in the Winter, every time there is a high-low collaboration at Target or H&M, I have to have one.

Below is the sweatshirt I created on Bow and Drape‘s website. I just love a Made in NYC brand. The sweatshirt is cozy, fashionable and makes a great shameless plug. Wink, wink. You can pair it with a skater skirt or jeans for an overall casual look.

What do you think of my 25 fun facts?

How would have you designed your sweatshirt?

Have a fun-filled weekend!

Bienvenido a Modani

Welcome to Modani!

I was chosen to put together my ideal living room space with pieces from Modani modern furniture store for a chance to have my board featured on their Pinterest.

The first thing I did was work around the accessories like I sometimes do with my outfits. When I buy new jewelry, a bag, or a new pair of shoes I don’t hesitate to incorporate it in my next outfit. The goal is to create (by using Pic Collage) a classic outfit that you’ll always wear with hints of bold color, print, or accessories to make the entire look pop.

I noticed from the choices I was given, my favorite neutrals: white, greys, black with subtle pops of color. I remembered an outfit I put together this past summer, that I wanted to use for inspiration.

One thing those close to me know is that I can never get enough of throw pillows, on my bed and hopefully when I have my apartment set up I can pile them up on my sofa too like I did here. In this collage I chose white as my base and grey for some accent pieces (the sofa, rug, or pillows) with just a few eye catching pieces, from the funky prints to the splashes of chartreuse and fuchsia. I wanted to decorate a room that had a minimalistic feel with hints of femininity. I kept the space clean and simple with the straight cut lines of the coffee table and mirror. I love mirrors, they always add a touch of glamour and can even make smaller spaces look bigger.

In my home, we have trunks and vases everywhere. They’re great to use for storage when you don’t have enough closets and they it gives a chance to show your creativity because they come in many styles. I finished off my minimalistic inspired living room with this white trunk set and shiny eclectic vase.

You can view any of Modani’s displays at their modern furniture stores, feel free to take a look.

How do you define your home style?
