Sheer Mystery

You ask what am I doing with an overcoat in the middle of the Summer? Whatever floats your boat, or should I say coat? L-O-L. It’s the perfect Summer coat: sheer, light, and full of dramas (aka the duster).

What’s lying underneath? A swimsuit turned bodysuit. Summer Fridays are in full effect at work and who knows where the early exit will lead you. Pool parties are a thing in the city, so why not dive right in after you punch out? I decorated my lower half in light denim flares. Light blue denim is not discreet and demands attention so find a pair that ARE flattering to your body type.

I am loving the gold chain trend this season. For this one, I had to contact a few sisters for it, but it was all worth it in the end. 4 chainz to fill up the chest was my goal. More is more this Summer and so I topped off the look with my staple gold hoops. Oh yeah and this season’s obsession, the DVF sandals. πŸ™‚

What are you wearing to stand out on these last days of Summer?

Lucky Number 1985

On June 22, 1985 a star was born. Born to shine; let me shine, let me shine, let me shine. Today’s post is a special shout out to all the 1985 babies like me!

Behind everyone’s outfit is a story to tell.

I always want to tell you all from where and how I put an outfit together. I had been eyeing this 1985 shirt ever since it was on the site…but not for sale. So you’re asking yourself how is that even possible?

Well what it looks like H&M does is they will style certain pieces that ARE for sale with other pieces that are NOT for sale -yet. Not sure what is behind this madness, other than causing me stress and anxiety.

So weeks later, I say to myself, I want to wear this for one of my birthday festivities which was getting really close, so I’m going to call them up -but let me check the site one last time! And there it was! Available for purchase! When it’s meant to be, you’ve got to believe it will be.

I don’t necessarily buy t-shirts already tied up because I like to make my own decisions on how to wear an article of clothing, but thank you H&M for the suggestion and the birth year. So I knew I was to wear a high waist something with this top. That something was an H&M satin high waist skirt with a high low hem that I already had hanging in my closet. It was just the right amount of peek-a-boo between the knot of the shirt and the skirt.

Now for the shoes: I came across these shoes in the clearance department, somewhere I never bother going into because I don’t have much luck there. Actually now that I think about it, I don’t have luck with shoes at all at T.J. Maxx. My 7 1/2 foot is a popular size. Also the selection is one of the smallest, so what you see is what you’re gonna get. What caught my eye was the height of the shoe. The print was very cutesy -not necessarily my cup of tea BUT they were black and after trying them on, I thought it could go places with this pair. I mean DVF for $69, I’ll take it! And guess what guys? I haven’t taken them off all Summer Seventeen.

It was pretty sunny this day so I went with a pair of big, bold, black sunglasses. They made the look extra sassy. And who doesn’t want to be extra or sassy on their born day?

On a scale from one to ten, how much sass do you pizzazz?

What trends are you following and which one would you like to see me in next?

Love, BudgetSai

Boss Lady

Hell yeah. When you go for a cropped leather instead of a boring old blazer, that’s boss. Don’t get me wrong I love blazers, but not dated 80’s style blazers (sorry) .This is the time to play around with semi-light outerwear. Hoodies, leather jackets, longline cardigans, ponchos -anything but a heavy coat! (Insert crying face). Although in the Northeast it gets cold quicker than you know it, you can definitely pull off the light with the heavy (working on that post as we speak) if need be.

First I did go for the perfect secretary ensemble, then I was like well I’m not going to finish this off, I’m going to change it up. So I already told you about my bad ass bomb boss leather (throw some Bs on that ootd = outfit of the day), then there’s the shoes -should I or should not? I have to tell you, this is a love story baby. I love my lace up heels and that’s who I chose to be with for the look of the day. If the weather permitted I’d be in lace up heels all year round. I love the way they climb up your feet.Β  It never fails to make me feel sexy.

The bodysuit needs no explanation other than the high neck kept it edgier and less cookie cutter with a basic pencil skirt (one you can do anything with -trust me). To top off the look, my shades in case a ray of sunshine throughout the day. I’m looking forward to the cooler weather as long as I can work with it!

Do you have business attire days? Do you pull it off rough around the edges? Or are you a cookie cutter guy or gal with basic on your mind? Whatever floats your boat -go with that. πŸ˜‰

Halloween is getting closer and I’m still indecisive about a costume. (Insert a double crying face!)

Fringe With Benefits

As you all know I love black. Black is reliable, it’s comfortable, it’s me. However at the moment I’m having a love affair with fringe.

It’s always a good sign when you go back to items in your closet. It means 1. You’re saving money and 2. You got yourself a stylish piece that you will wear more than once! I paired it with a vintage top. A good vintage transcends decades and seasons.Β I think it gives the skirt a softer look, don’t you think?

Finished off with shoes that matched and a blazer because well… It’s not Summer yet!

Fringe is everywhere. Not a trend I would have thought to ever wear, but it’s looking like I like mine below the belt. πŸ˜‰

What fringe pieces are you into this season?Β Here are some of my favorite fringe looks for less:

Fringe Faux Suede Scarf, $11

Fringe Leather High Heel Shoes, $100

Fringe Belt, $30

Leather Bochoa Fringe Shoulder Bag, $80

Outfit details below! Happy Friday and Happy Weekend!

Sheer Panel

Sorry for being MIA lately! There’s been so much going on, so many changes in my life!

So here as you can see I reached out to a new photographer, @burritomilkshake on Instagram (recommended by @zamnsam), who is pretty amazing if you ask me. I think this might be the beginning of a wonderful blogger/photographer friendship. πŸ™‚ Zamnsam, my baby sister has moved to California. We were inseparable since the day she was born. I love her and wish her all the best on her new journey…

Speaking of all this love, my love for black never gets old. “2 in the morning my mind is on you, 4 in the morning it still hasn’t moved…” I live for these dark moments. Here I’m wearing a mesh bodysuit and satin skirt for a total glam on look. I like to keep the sporty inspired pieces feminine with a twist or should I say a braid? I started to get my hair braided for those sweaty days at the gym, but also changing up my hair is something I want to start doing again this Summer. Do you remember my redhead days? And the blonde?!

Mesh, satin, lace are sexy, light and beautiful on the body. Summer goals or nah? How are YOU getting ready?

What lightweight fabrics will you be wearing?

Things Are Coming Up Rusty

Rust is having a moment in the fashion world. Rust comes in a variety of shades, some more orange, others pink and even a little bit of grey. So, if you need a little spice in your wardrobe there’s actually a lot to work with. Some people just stay away from trends altogether, but if it goes well with black? It’s fine by me! When experimenting with a new color, it’s best to look for them in your everyday staple pieces or small accessories. I found a turtleneck in the hue to be a little on the safe side, and styled with with a flirty black leather skirt. I finished off this look with my trusty suede boots because they are having a fashion moment in my world. Tada! I experimented, I styled, I conquered.

In other news, I really, really really have to do some major organizing in my closet. I can barely get into my room these days. Remind me to get a head start on Spring cleaning before it’s too late. πŸ™‚

What do you think of the color, rust? Would you wear it?Β

All White

Finally! I call this look a tall glass of milk. Why? It does a body good. πŸ˜‰

All white is something that’s very happening this season. I chose to explore the trend to show that the monochromatic look can work for all shapes and sizes and still be work appropriate. Pulled my hair back into a ponytail (which I never do) to let the neck and the holes do the talking. It was a day of exploring new territory. For the office’s AC cool temperatures I threw on a blazer, but kept it warm weather friendly in lace up sandals. Fashion is all about a balancing act. πŸ˜‰

Do you like my all white look or should I stick to my all black looks?
