Bitter Sweet 16

It took so long for me to write the last post of the year, but I am here and ready to move forward.

2016 took me on a roller coaster ride: the lows sunk me at times where I felt stuck, the twists and turns shook me to my core, and the highs although there were a few, did not reach the heights I aspire to be.

So much so that it has reflected upon my outfits; I totally took advantage of the whole hoodie and sweatpants trend (thank you, Athleisure)

In life, there are the days you wake up and find devilish energy on your back. If you let it, it creeps its way up to the right side of your shoulder and cranks up the negative thoughts and feelings so loud that all you can do to make it through the day is grab a pair of sweatpants.
I’ve been MIA, but I have done some reflecting. I realized that if you don’t believe in yourself, no one ever will and your world and your dreams will begin to crumble right before your eyes.

From now on I’m going to turn the crumble into glitter and sprinkle my way through the fashion world one budget outfit at a time.

This outfit goes back to Christmas Eve. I took a basic velvet number -added a cape and choker. I was channeling my inner superhero. I love the new lightweight trenchcoats and cardigans, it adds effortless drama to even the most casual looks.

2017 is here, how is it going so far?

Always remember to set your own pace and not sweat the small stuff…

Love, BudgetSai

This Christmas…

Don’t shy away from those sequins ladies, there’s enough to go around. I thought I’d have sequin fatigue after my last outfit, but here we are shining through yet another holiday. To show you the many ways to rework your wardrobe and return to that dress that you dismiss as a “one off”, I froze just for you. The first look I kept very short and sweet. I went with opaque tights and patent Mary Jane’s.

The next pair you SHOULD remember from my last post! These white leather pumps give me the confidence I need to complete any look whether it’s with a dress or a pair of jeans and a black tee (outfit coming soon, lol).

And last, but not least which is probably the pair that defines my style the most, sexy yet cool, and very cold. Sometimes a little extra detail goes a long way.

How is everyone’s holiday shopping coming along? What shiny little number will you be wearing?

Christmas is 4 days away…

Love, BudgetSai

Thankful and Delightful

I can’t thank my family enough for all the memories that still bring us together on Thanksgiving Day and really everyday. I love them very much. And although I’m the silent one who only expresses herself in #ootd photos, I think about every single one and the few friends I have that have supported me and given me advice when I’ve wanted to give up. I am so thankful to have my lovely family around me all the time, without them I don’t know where I’d be.

This Thanksgiving, I encourage you to be grateful for each day as well as each moment of each and every day. Express your gratitude to those who you lift you up and show your their appreciation, love and respect.

Today I wanted to start out the holiday season with none other than sequins. I bought this top without anything else in mind, but a few racks down in the same store there were a pair of distressed, ripped I mean torn up jeans. I’ve always like the dressy on top, casual bottom or vice versa so I took them, tried them both on at home and really all I needed was the shoes. I wanted something unexpected, dramatic -you know just like me so I went with the white after Labor Day.

Gasp!

Who cares?! It looked freakin’ good! Oh the bag was another total accident that turned out to be a winner. I had to go with a color and fabric that complimented the sequins – satin. Silky smooth, sexy and cool, satin.

Spread love and budget tips 😉 Happy Thanksgiving!

This Means Business

Working at an office, I’ve always thought how can I get through this workwear rut. I don’t like button downs (I do but just not at the office), blazers over button downs, slacks -like are we going to an interview everyday of our lives?! Let’s give a new meaning to going to work, one of the things people say is do what makes you happy, and I say if it doesn’t, look like you are!

Sometimes I may get out of hand and confuse happy with sexy and then I’m just doing whatever I want, appropriate or not. So I’m trying to find a happy medium and share my findings with you. Today’s outfit: I kept it high enough and long enough without anyone catching any feelings. The bodysuit was comfortable and covered all of my upper lady parts, for $10?! Sign me up! The shorts probably belonged to a blazer sometime in the past, but this time around,  I let them go it at alone. I added this bold cuff from the Balmain for H&M line. Who doesn’t know Oliver Rousting? He has dressed the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian and all of her family. It’s almost been a year since his wallet friendly line for H&M. Question is will he ever do a line FOR the less fortunate? Will he sculpt our bodies the way he does these celebratory women? I’m all for it! Just say the words! For now, all I could get my hands on from this line was this superpower bracelet/cuff. It’s gold, my favorite metallic, shiny, big, it’s me. Maybe I too can be a part of his army.

The newest H&M collaboration line is nothing but extravagant, prints on prints on prints, well -way to go Kenzo. I thank you. Cookie cutter is not what it’s all about these days, personification, expression, liberation is what we can all relate to. I look forward to November 2016, as long as I can get my hands on something!!!

How do you make your workwear work for you?

What do you think about the Kenzo for H&M line? Will you suffer? Usually a month or 2 in advance they give more sneak peeks, stay tuned for the never ending mind games fashion has to offer…

Happy Weekend!

How To Think Pink In Your 30s

It’s been 2 weeks since the celebration of National Pink Day. There’s nothing wrong with being in the spirit of any National (insert here) Day. I love holidays/national days because it brings people together in a fun lighthearted way.

This little pink number was pretty easy to choose until I realized I didn’t have much to work with. I had no choice but to throw it back since I didn’t have the time to go shopping for something new. I’m trying to update and reinvent what’s already in my closet instead of resorting to making a new purchase.

So even though I’ve been working out lately, I was still hesitant about the crop top. The only way to hide the extra goods was with a high waist something. a light satin color blazer -to prevent from overpowering the pink and long enough for a leaner illusion. It felt or looked more like Spring all over again once I added flower-ful clutch.

What color do you feel the most “girly” in? What’s the guilty pleasure in your closet?

Check out my eBay: budgetsaiyou. Add more to your closet, from my closet!

Happy Shopping, Happy Weekend!

TLC for your LBD

A little black dress goes a long way. You can’t go wrong with one no matter what the occasion. This LBD outfit was inspired by KKW on her trip to Cuba. I put this look together for a bachelorette party I attended 2 weeks ago. A bachelorette party or a club night is the only time you should go this short. Then of course there’s KKW that went sightseeing with all that sexiness. Instead of going for the choker with a cross like she did, I chose a heart locket velvet choker. Ever since I was little, I’ve had an obsession with hearts, so my 2 chainz moment both had pretty little hearts dangling from my neck. I kept my hair loose even though the heat made it impossible to keep it that way! Then there was the shoes: Stecy never lets me down. Ankle strap shoes are classy even with a mini dress. For a mini dress, I think the more delicate the shoe, the better. Stay away from platform shoes to avoid looking extra clunky and trashy. Also, opt for simple makeup for the girl who who wants to balance out her sexy.

Let that LBD shine!

Happy Hump Day!

Fringe With Benefits

As you all know I love black. Black is reliable, it’s comfortable, it’s me. However at the moment I’m having a love affair with fringe.

It’s always a good sign when you go back to items in your closet. It means 1. You’re saving money and 2. You got yourself a stylish piece that you will wear more than once! I paired it with a vintage top. A good vintage transcends decades and seasons. I think it gives the skirt a softer look, don’t you think?

Finished off with shoes that matched and a blazer because well… It’s not Summer yet!

Fringe is everywhere. Not a trend I would have thought to ever wear, but it’s looking like I like mine below the belt. 😉

What fringe pieces are you into this season? Here are some of my favorite fringe looks for less:

Fringe Faux Suede Scarf, $11

Fringe Leather High Heel Shoes, $100

Fringe Belt, $30

Leather Bochoa Fringe Shoulder Bag, $80

Outfit details below! Happy Friday and Happy Weekend!
