inexpensive

This Christmas…

Don’t shy away from those sequins ladies, there’s enough to go around. I thought I’d have sequin fatigue after my last outfit, but here we are shining through yet another holiday. To show you the many ways to rework your wardrobe and return to that dress that you dismiss as a “one off”, I froze just for you. The first look I kept very short and sweet. I went with opaque tights and patent Mary Jane’s.

The next pair you SHOULD remember from my last post! These white leather pumps give me the confidence I need to complete any look whether it’s with a dress or a pair of jeans and a black tee (outfit coming soon, lol).

And last, but not least which is probably the pair that defines my style the most, sexy yet cool, and very cold. Sometimes a little extra detail goes a long way.

How is everyone’s holiday shopping coming along? What shiny little number will you be wearing?

Christmas is 4 days away…

Love, BudgetSai

Slip Into This

Finally the Spring I know came through!

Right now I’m revisiting a lot of pieces. I think it’s important to buy things you can wear again in a different way. Reinvention is key ladies even if you’ve found your personal style.

On an average Summer day, I would wear open toe sandals with this slip dress and call it a day. This time, I played around with this long blazer from Forever 21. I know what some of you are thinking, she’s obsessed with this trendy store. But it’s a safe place to experiment with trends without hurting your pockets. Save your money for the investment pieces. Reality is when I shop here I’m very particular about the pieces. The prices are cheap, but you don’t ever want to look cheap! So the next time you go shopping at F21, check out ALL their take on Spring trends!

Okay so back to the rest of my outfit of the day. The oversize blazer is très chic and my new favorite item. I’m really loving the “lingerie’s day out” look it gives the entire outfit: slept in and sexy. I think of outerwear like an accessory, a piece of fashion that makes the outfit. I love outerwear in Spring because you have more fun with the options so you’re not worrying about function so much.

I added my new black pumps that have on trend (there’s that word again) lucite accents and an ankle strap. Baby birkin came along for the ride too, couldn’t see any other bag on my side with this look.

What do you think of my look? What kind of posts would you like to see more of on my blog?

Getting Witchy With It

If you’re not into Halloween and there’s no way you’re getting into a costume, but are dragged to the parade or a party, don’t panic. Right in your closet there’s a costume waiting to be created. It doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. Let your mind wander and think of what you’d like to become. A witch? Take out all your black clothing (I know some of us have more than enough) and start picking your favorite from the bunch, then decide whether you want to be the sexy or classic witch. Halloween gives women the opportunity to play out their fantasies for the whole world to see. Please, spare us a little ladies. If it’s a chilly night and you can’t brave the cold, do as I did; wear a turtleneck tucked into a pencil skirt, tights and some pointed boots like these Altuzarra for Target ones I snagged from the collection to give off a witchy vibe. Tights are the perfect way to stay warm with any costume. The colors are endless too. The finishing touches to your witch costume should be easy, the hat, nose and some evil green face paint! Now if you’re a Halloween fan like I am, getting your makeup done by a professional (at the MAC Soho store) can make you look like this :

That’s me last year as a Harlequin. 🙂 As much as I like to keep things under a budget, I go all out on Halloween and I’m that person who drags everyone into it too!

What are you dressing up as this Halloween?

A Walk Down Everlane

Last Tuesday I went to the Everlane showroom, met their down to earth team and got to hear a little bit about their journey into the online only shopping site. I found out about the brand through another blogger and was fascinated by the simplicity, but good quality of their clothes. My sister and I have been a fan ever since. I was able to try on a few of their newer pieces I’ve been interested in and I hope to get my hands on them soon. In this day and age every girl should have a few inexpensive wardrobe staples (like the tees and tanks that start at just $15!) in their closet to pair with jeans, denim cut offs (in the summer), flats, heels and or sneakers. I kept my look simple for the event in an Everlane tee, blazer and skinny jeans, but added a little bit of sexy to the beautiful basic by pairing it with snakeskin pumps and rosy cheeks.

What do you look for in a t-shirt? With so many to choose from nowadays, it’s hard not to be picky!

Hope everyone had a relaxed long weekend! 🙂
