Since my last post, I’ve been trying to cope with some insecurity issues that are weighing me down tremendously. I’ve always known becoming an adult was going to come with responsibilities. No matter how many hours you work, there’s never enough time to get things done and the bills are endless and somehow you have to have the time and energy to deal with the personal responsibilities and consequences of being an adult. I also never expected to dislike myself in the process…
I feel like I’ve lost myself AND let myself go. I know I reassured you I was going to shine through whatever comes my way, but some things just can’t be forced. Because of this I’ve decided to take a break from blogging and work on myself like I know I should. I love my blog so much, but it’s hard to put your all in something when your all feels like nothing. This isn’t the end. I want to be happy and reflect that happiness through my outfits instead of hiding underneath them every single day…
I know I’m not alone in these experiences that life throws at you and I wanted to share my feelings with you in hopes it would help anyone going through the same.
When the going gets tough, ruffle up! Here’s my last outfit for a while. The ruffle trend is one of my favorites of the season, I just can’t get enough of it. Streetwear and athleisure is literally everywhere and this feminine look is a nice change from the new norm.
Nothing like an ugly sweater to get you into the Christmas spirit, am I right? I think so. Although I can get away with a knit or two, – you’ll never find me in a decorative one on any given day. No thanks, but thank you @hm men for inspiring me to participate in a National Ugly Sweater day with the one and only Santa.
The sweater had a perfect oversized fit, but not for leggings and over the knee boots -that didn’t work out. I looked sloppy and stocky, which are huge NO’s in my world of fashion. Instead, I asked myself what can balance out the boots and the sweater -leather ruffles says girly, but sassy. I tucked in the sweater and I was ready to go to work and ugly it up. My co-workers also partook in the festivities with their own ugly sweaters, so it was well worth the effort!
Do you all participate in the festivities of Ugly Sweater Day? What did you think of my ugly sweater choice?
I’ve always wanted to go to Tulum, Mexico and this year I finally did. The warm weather, the authentic Mexican food (no pre-made/store bought guacamole here), the ranchera music, and of course the unlimited tequila! Aye ya yae!
Below you’ll see my appreciation for the beautiful beaches. We stayed at the Grand Bahia Principe Resort where they greeted us with margaritas and made us feel at home instantly. We reserved a table at Tequila restaurant inside the hotel to start off our Mexican adventure. A mariachi band played while we took pictures with sombreros! I wore a black jumpsuit with shiny gold accents for the first night in Tulum. To add a but of glamour, I brought along my sister’s vintage Chanel bag…tres chic!
Baywatch was my only inspiration for day one’s beach look: a high cut one-piece and tousled hair, a la Pamela Anderson.
What do you think of my all black looks? Any vintage lovers?
PS- I like to brighten my wardrobe towards the end of my trip to bring out my tan.
Kardashian Kollection Black Jumpsuit via Sears; $99 (launch collection back in 2011), similar here
H&M Faux Velvet Belt, $9.95 – $12.95 (sold in stores)
Since it was my last beach day, I wanted to go out with a bang. A cut-out one-piece was the way to go. A classic silhouette with a modern twist, and white HOT! I paired the swimsuit with a colorful cover-up, simple straw hat, and piece of jewelry to glam up my look. I know it sounds like a lot, but sometimes more is more.
Urban Outfitters Roseville Metal Cuff, $28.00 (about 2 years old), similar styles here. Before I left on vacation I stopped in Forever 21 and saw they have a cuff identical to this one in gold and silver.
