Lucky Number 1985

On June 22, 1985 a star was born. Born to shine; let me shine, let me shine, let me shine. Today’s post is a special shout out to all the 1985 babies like me!

Behind everyone’s outfit is a story to tell.

I always want to tell you all from where and how I put an outfit together. I had been eyeing this 1985 shirt ever since it was on the site…but not for sale. So you’re asking yourself how is that even possible?

Well what it looks like H&M does is they will style certain pieces that ARE for sale with other pieces that are NOT for sale -yet. Not sure what is behind this madness, other than causing me stress and anxiety.

So weeks later, I say to myself, I want to wear this for one of my birthday festivities which was getting really close, so I’m going to call them up -but let me check the site one last time! And there it was! Available for purchase! When it’s meant to be, you’ve got to believe it will be.

I don’t necessarily buy t-shirts already tied up because I like to make my own decisions on how to wear an article of clothing, but thank you H&M for the suggestion and the birth year. So I knew I was to wear a high waist something with this top. That something was an H&M satin high waist skirt with a high low hem that I already had hanging in my closet. It was just the right amount of peek-a-boo between the knot of the shirt and the skirt.

Now for the shoes: I came across these shoes in the clearance department, somewhere I never bother going into because I don’t have much luck there. Actually now that I think about it, I don’t have luck with shoes at all at T.J. Maxx. My 7 1/2 foot is a popular size. Also the selection is one of the smallest, so what you see is what you’re gonna get. What caught my eye was the height of the shoe. The print was very cutesy -not necessarily my cup of tea BUT they were black and after trying them on, I thought it could go places with this pair. I mean DVF for $69, I’ll take it! And guess what guys? I haven’t taken them off all Summer Seventeen.

It was pretty sunny this day so I went with a pair of big, bold, black sunglasses. They made the look extra sassy. And who doesn’t want to be extra or sassy on their born day?

On a scale from one to ten, how much sass do you pizzazz?

What trends are you following and which one would you like to see me in next?

Almost All Everything

Ready for the weekend? I know I am! I’m also ready to get back into my all black everything wardrobe. Fall can you hear me? It’s been way too hot in NYC and although they say the best color to stay cool in is white, I stick to black (because no sweat marks and no sheer catastrophes!). This right here was also another birthday outfit worn during the day for my nephew’s high school graduation. The graduation was outside in the blazing heat, so I had no choice, but to wear black and not look drenched as many did. I love how it ‘fits like a glove’ and accentuates every single curve. If you got it, flaunt it, but don’t sweat it, literally.

Instead of going almost all black from head to toe, I dipped my feet into a classic white leather pump (and Edelman Icon) and a seductively red pout for that POP to POP that thang.

My hair was a no brainer, again with the heat I like to pull my hair back in a sleek bun to avoid frizz. This look reminds me of the Simply Irresistible video. Watch it!

A big congrats to my nephew who is going to Rutgers University to pursue a career in professional baseball. 🙂

Happy Weekend Team No Sweat! Stay Cool!

Ruff Ruff

Since my last post, I’ve been trying to cope with some insecurity issues that are weighing me down tremendously. I’ve always known becoming an adult was going to come with responsibilities. No matter how many hours you work, there’s never enough time to get things done and the bills are endless and somehow you have to have the time and energy to deal with the personal responsibilities and consequences of being an adult. I also never expected to dislike myself in the process…

I feel like I’ve lost myself AND let myself go. I know I reassured you I was going to shine through whatever comes my way, but some things just can’t be forced. Because of this I’ve decided to take a break from blogging and work on myself like I know I should. I love my blog so much, but it’s hard to put your all in something when your all feels like nothing. This isn’t the end. I want to be happy and reflect that happiness through my outfits instead of hiding underneath them every single day…

I know I’m not alone in these experiences that life throws at you and I wanted to share my feelings with you in hopes it would help anyone going through the same.

When the going gets tough, ruffle up! Here’s my last outfit for a while. The ruffle trend is one of my favorites of the season, I just can’t get enough of it. Streetwear and athleisure is literally everywhere and this feminine look is a nice change from the new norm.

Love Always,
BudgetSai

Bitter Sweet 16

It took so long for me to write the last post of the year, but I am here and ready to move forward.

2016 took me on a roller coaster ride: the lows sunk me at times where I felt stuck, the twists and turns shook me to my core, and the highs although there were a few, did not reach the heights I aspire to be.

So much so that it has reflected upon my outfits; I totally took advantage of the whole hoodie and sweatpants trend (thank you, Athleisure)

In life, there are the days you wake up and find devilish energy on your back. If you let it, it creeps its way up to the right side of your shoulder and cranks up the negative thoughts and feelings so loud that all you can do to make it through the day is grab a pair of sweatpants.
I’ve been MIA, but I have done some reflecting. I realized that if you don’t believe in yourself, no one ever will and your world and your dreams will begin to crumble right before your eyes.

From now on I’m going to turn the crumble into glitter and sprinkle my way through the fashion world one budget outfit at a time.

This outfit goes back to Christmas Eve. I took a basic velvet number -added a cape and choker. I was channeling my inner superhero. I love the new lightweight trenchcoats and cardigans, it adds effortless drama to even the most casual looks.

2017 is here, how is it going so far?

Always remember to set your own pace and not sweat the small stuff…

Love, BudgetSai

This Christmas…

Don’t shy away from those sequins ladies, there’s enough to go around. I thought I’d have sequin fatigue after my last outfit, but here we are shining through yet another holiday. To show you the many ways to rework your wardrobe and return to that dress that you dismiss as a “one off”, I froze just for you. The first look I kept very short and sweet. I went with opaque tights and patent Mary Jane’s.

The next pair you SHOULD remember from my last post! These white leather pumps give me the confidence I need to complete any look whether it’s with a dress or a pair of jeans and a black tee (outfit coming soon, lol).

And last, but not least which is probably the pair that defines my style the most, sexy yet cool, and very cold. Sometimes a little extra detail goes a long way.

How is everyone’s holiday shopping coming along? What shiny little number will you be wearing?

Christmas is 4 days away…

A Sai of Hoodie

Sometimes we see loungewear as just that, lounge-wearBUT -don’t you ever feel like you want to feel comfortable in something comfortably sexy too?

So for this laid back look, I cut up my leggings into capris -I just felt like the color needed to be cut down a bit and a little bare leg never hurt anybody. My men sized hoodie was long enough to cover the booty, the longer the better ladies (and gentlemen)! You can even get them as big and long as you want to wear as a dress with over the knee boots – SEX-Y! Speaking of sexy, the heels were the perfect compliment to the hoodie’s side silver zipper (so sorry there’s no close up, I promise there will be a next time).

Sexy (there’s that word again) and comfy is my mood as of late, will you join me?

How’s your hoodie collection stacking up?

Boss Lady

Hell yeah. When you go for a cropped leather instead of a boring old blazer, that’s boss. Don’t get me wrong I love blazers, but not dated 80’s style blazers (sorry) .This is the time to play around with semi-light outerwear. Hoodies, leather jackets, longline cardigans, ponchos -anything but a heavy coat! (Insert crying face). Although in the Northeast it gets cold quicker than you know it, you can definitely pull off the light with the heavy (working on that post as we speak) if need be.

First I did go for the perfect secretary ensemble, then I was like well I’m not going to finish this off, I’m going to change it up. So I already told you about my bad ass bomb boss leather (throw some Bs on that ootd = outfit of the day), then there’s the shoes -should I or should not? I have to tell you, this is a love story baby. I love my lace up heels and that’s who I chose to be with for the look of the day. If the weather permitted I’d be in lace up heels all year round. I love the way they climb up your feet.  It never fails to make me feel sexy.

The bodysuit needs no explanation other than the high neck kept it edgier and less cookie cutter with a basic pencil skirt (one you can do anything with -trust me). To top off the look, my shades in case a ray of sunshine throughout the day. I’m looking forward to the cooler weather as long as I can work with it!

Do you have business attire days? Do you pull it off rough around the edges? Or are you a cookie cutter guy or gal with basic on your mind? Whatever floats your boat -go with that. 😉

Halloween is getting closer and I’m still indecisive about a costume. (Insert a double crying face!)

xoxo, BudgetSai
