Knight and Shining Armor

Today it finally feels like Fall! That means more blazers like this one; a silk satin neutral that you can throw on -over a T-shirt, a turtleneck, like a cape, or with nothing underneath (like me). Don’t worry folks, I wore a belt to avoid any nip slips.

Theses vintage Levi’s needed some work done so I went to my local tailor where he took it in for a high waist fit. The jeans needed some adjusting, but that’s where the belt came in to the rescue -yet again! Stores like Urban Outfitters and the Vintage Twin, sell redone denim like Levi’s and the best part about that is you’ll always get a one of kind pair. 😉

Considering how much my belt secured the overall look of this outfit, I felt confident. Maybe it was the hardware, maybe the week I just finished having or maybe I didn’t let anything hang out in the process! I plan to bring many more accessories into my Fall wardrobe which help in rotating my favorite pieces without it looking like you’re wearing the same look twice!

How do you like to wear your blazer? What is your favorite accessory? How are we all cooling down this weekend?

Have a happy one!

A Lip and A Slip Into the Weekend…

A lot of my outfits are inspired by my mood. So, when the weekend arrives, I feel free. Free to wear whatever I want, HOWEVER I want. I’ve been rockin’ gym gear all week, so after putting in work -in and out of the office, you deserve a little glamour on the weekends!

Ah, the slip dress. I don’t think i’ll ever get tired of this trend. Simple, sexy, and goes with just about anything. I’ve always been and will always be a heel gal, but for every outfit that goes with heel, there’s a sneaker back up plan. It’s the New Yorker thing to do.

I’m a plain Jane when it comes to makeup, but a burgundy lip will always be in my makeup bag and today I brought her out to play for the perfect match!

I’m still leaving my hair curly, what do you guys think of the change up?

What are you slipping into this weekend? New Yorkers how about this Summer extension? Are you feeling it?

Class is in Session

When I think about back to school season, I immediately think: Autumn leaves, hoodies, boots, pumpkin spice everything, and cozy cooler weather. I fall in love with my city all over again.

New York Fall hasn’t been lasting too long in recent years, so I like to plan out my outfits as fast as I can and go apple picking before it’s too late/cold!  Current temp: still humid as F, aka bad news! Good news is: There’s still time!

A man’s hoodie goes a long way! Literally. This is still one of my very favorite hoodies in my personal collection. I’m so happy its still in great shape!

For today’s outfit, I chose to bring out the greens and compliment all the other colors and my legs of course with this olive green mini. I accessorized with a small and grey handbag.

Before my trip to El Salvador this Summer (a post in the near future, stay tuned!) I went to Target for essentials -and this trip to Target ended like all the rest:  straight to the women’s clothing and shoe department. It wasn’t love at first sight with these platform oxfords, but something told me to give it a try. I walked out of my comfort zone and into a new shoe trend! I actually cannot stop wearing them! They were perfect for this back to school inspired outfit! Don’t you think?

As feminine as my outfits have been in the past, I’m really loving the influence men’s fashion has had on my everyday style.

Finally to top it ALL off, – a leather jacket. Invest and save on the one of your dreams because I promise you will revisit this timeless staple over and over again!

What Fall trends are you looking forward to?

What are some style staples you’re working with this season?

Lucky Number 1985

On June 22, 1985 a star was born. Born to shine; let me shine, let me shine, let me shine. Today’s post is a special shout out to all the 1985 babies like me!

Behind everyone’s outfit is a story to tell.

I always want to tell you all from where and how I put an outfit together. I had been eyeing this 1985 shirt ever since it was on the site…but not for sale. So you’re asking yourself how is that even possible?

Well what it looks like H&M does is they will style certain pieces that ARE for sale with other pieces that are NOT for sale -yet. Not sure what is behind this madness, other than causing me stress and anxiety.

So weeks later, I say to myself, I want to wear this for one of my birthday festivities which was getting really close, so I’m going to call them up -but let me check the site one last time! And there it was! Available for purchase! When it’s meant to be, you’ve got to believe it will be.

I don’t necessarily buy t-shirts already tied up because I like to make my own decisions on how to wear an article of clothing, but thank you H&M for the suggestion and the birth year. So I knew I was to wear a high waist something with this top. That something was an H&M satin high waist skirt with a high low hem that I already had hanging in my closet. It was just the right amount of peek-a-boo between the knot of the shirt and the skirt.

Now for the shoes: I came across these shoes in the clearance department, somewhere I never bother going into because I don’t have much luck there. Actually now that I think about it, I don’t have luck with shoes at all at T.J. Maxx. My 7 1/2 foot is a popular size. Also the selection is one of the smallest, so what you see is what you’re gonna get. What caught my eye was the height of the shoe. The print was very cutesy -not necessarily my cup of tea BUT they were black and after trying them on, I thought it could go places with this pair. I mean DVF for $69, I’ll take it! And guess what guys? I haven’t taken them off all Summer Seventeen.

It was pretty sunny this day so I went with a pair of big, bold, black sunglasses. They made the look extra sassy. And who doesn’t want to be extra or sassy on their born day?

On a scale from one to ten, how much sass do you pizzazz?

What trends are you following and which one would you like to see me in next?

Almost All Everything

Ready for the weekend? I know I am! I’m also ready to get back into my all black everything wardrobe. Fall can you hear me? It’s been way too hot in NYC and although they say the best color to stay cool in is white, I stick to black (because no sweat marks and no sheer catastrophes!). This right here was also another birthday outfit worn during the day for my nephew’s high school graduation. The graduation was outside in the blazing heat, so I had no choice, but to wear black and not look drenched as many did. I love how it ‘fits like a glove’ and accentuates every single curve. If you got it, flaunt it, but don’t sweat it, literally.

Instead of going almost all black from head to toe, I dipped my feet into a classic white leather pump (and Edelman Icon) and a seductively red pout for that POP to POP that thang.

My hair was a no brainer, again with the heat I like to pull my hair back in a sleek bun to avoid frizz. This look reminds me of the Simply Irresistible video. Watch it!

A big congrats to my nephew who is going to Rutgers University to pursue a career in professional baseball. 🙂

Happy Weekend Team No Sweat! Stay Cool!

Ruff Ruff

Since my last post, I’ve been trying to cope with some insecurity issues that are weighing me down tremendously. I’ve always known becoming an adult was going to come with responsibilities. No matter how many hours you work, there’s never enough time to get things done and the bills are endless and somehow you have to have the time and energy to deal with the personal responsibilities and consequences of being an adult. I also never expected to dislike myself in the process…

I feel like I’ve lost myself AND let myself go. I know I reassured you I was going to shine through whatever comes my way, but some things just can’t be forced. Because of this I’ve decided to take a break from blogging and work on myself like I know I should. I love my blog so much, but it’s hard to put your all in something when your all feels like nothing. This isn’t the end. I want to be happy and reflect that happiness through my outfits instead of hiding underneath them every single day…

I know I’m not alone in these experiences that life throws at you and I wanted to share my feelings with you in hopes it would help anyone going through the same.

When the going gets tough, ruffle up! Here’s my last outfit for a while. The ruffle trend is one of my favorites of the season, I just can’t get enough of it. Streetwear and athleisure is literally everywhere and this feminine look is a nice change from the new norm.

Love Always,
BudgetSai

Bitter Sweet 16

It took so long for me to write the last post of the year, but I am here and ready to move forward.

2016 took me on a roller coaster ride: the lows sunk me at times where I felt stuck, the twists and turns shook me to my core, and the highs although there were a few, did not reach the heights I aspire to be.

So much so that it has reflected upon my outfits; I totally took advantage of the whole hoodie and sweatpants trend (thank you, Athleisure)

In life, there are the days you wake up and find devilish energy on your back. If you let it, it creeps its way up to the right side of your shoulder and cranks up the negative thoughts and feelings so loud that all you can do to make it through the day is grab a pair of sweatpants.
I’ve been MIA, but I have done some reflecting. I realized that if you don’t believe in yourself, no one ever will and your world and your dreams will begin to crumble right before your eyes.

From now on I’m going to turn the crumble into glitter and sprinkle my way through the fashion world one budget outfit at a time.

This outfit goes back to Christmas Eve. I took a basic velvet number -added a cape and choker. I was channeling my inner superhero. I love the new lightweight trenchcoats and cardigans, it adds effortless drama to even the most casual looks.

2017 is here, how is it going so far?

Always remember to set your own pace and not sweat the small stuff…

Love, BudgetSai
