V Day, Me Day

I wouldn’t say I’m a huge fan of Valentine’s Day, but yes I am (Drita voice). I love all the red and pink hearts and all that other visible mushy-ness that comes with Valentine’s Day. It’s not only about a significant other, it’s a day to spread love to all those that deserve to be loved. Most importantly? Yourself. Love is a happy feeling and a way I feel happy is by putting on my best or not (lol). This was the perfect dress for dinner plans after work. Totally appropriate and playful with a pair of heart socks and Mary Janes. Still Sunny outside? Don’t forget to add a pair of fun heart sunglasses.

What are your Valentine’s Day plans?

Do you dress up for the occasion?

Have a fun-filled long weekend!

Selfish

Feliz día de el amor! How do I celebrate Valentine’s Day? Well let’s just say it only involves one person: me. There’s nothing more important than self love, self acceptance and self respect. So many women and men struggle with their bodies and I want to tell you about my own experiences with body image.

As I’m adjusting to my 30s, so many things have changed. I have experienced many eye openers: from the health of some family members, loss, a failed relationship, too much fun in the sun, and a slower metabolism.

My body has been crying for help. I needed to get out of the rut and the possibility of health scares. When I was 16 years old, all I ever wanted was to look like Britney Spears. I worked out almost everyday, did some extreme diets behind my parents back. Although it worked for me during my adolescence, the unhealthy path ultimately led to the reason for this post. I refuse to abandon myself through hard times. I want to look good, feel good and STAY good.

I made a little bit of progress and here I am showing it off all booed up with myself.

Grinch Don’t Steal My Vibe

Did everyone have an overall good Christmas? Gathered by the ones you love? Did you dance the night away? Or was that just me? 😉 How did Santa treat you?  -Well Santa made sure I was surrounded by family, that’s all I can hope for every year, to be able to see another day, feel the love and appreciation gathered in one room.

Now that Christmas has come and gone, New Year’s is up next. I’ve been reflecting upon this past year and although I have many goals in mind for 2018, the general idea is that I want to stay positive and avoid, deflect and reject any and all negativity. At least try. This past year I’ve experienced so much bad energy, pettiness, envy and disrespect. You cannot progress in an environment that is polluted with negative energy, relentlessly bringing you down and holding you back. It’s time to leave it all behind because it’s the only way towards a bigger and better you.

In 2018, I plan to take a step back and learn to deal with things differently. Now remember: You don’t have to put anyone down to build yourself up. Doing better is about finding peace within yourself, not disrupting the peace in others. The work to better yourself is never over so why not start now? I encourage you all to do the same!

I love Christmas and to keep the spirit alive, I wore a playful ‘brick’ Betsey Johnson number. The color, the sequins, the silhouette was a total hit. In total monochrome form, I wore my MAC “diva” matte lip and kissed the night away. The nude platforms kept the look toned down below the knee.

I couldn’t help but smile with joy at every twirl of this sparkling number.

Happy Holidays!
