I spent Memorial Day enjoying the beautiful weather with a hike in the park, all while watching the military planes fly by. We get so caught up in our daily routines we forget to remember those men and women who served in our country’s Armed Forces, some of which live near by in my neighborhood. Later in the day, I dressed up for dinner plans in a vintage Gianfranco Ferre top (representing the red, white and blue), a pencil skirt and some bondage on my feet to match the crisscross action happening in the back of my top.
How was everyone’s Memorial Day weekend? Are you ladies sporting your Summer crop tops?
I threw on some faux fur over my jacket to keep warm and stylish, but I still felt like I needed some gloves, a scarf and my Uggs. The cold isn’t playing games, it just doesn’t want go away! I can’t get enough of the Canadian tuxedo also known as the denim on denim trend, it’s so easy to dress up with all sorts of pumps or sandals. This time I went back to my camouflage pair from the Cameron Silver for Nine West and mixed some gold accents.
Is a sexy red dress. I love, love, love red dresses. They make you look super hot without trying. Its such an eye-catching color and with this dress expect many compliments coming your way. The minute I saw this dress, I had to have it, I’ve been thinking about getting all the other colors too! I know its not cold outside, but these booties transition into the summer perfectly; they do not heat up your feet at all, besides they give this look a bit of a street style swag.
Trending this summer is dainty jewelry. I like to wear more than one necklace and make sure they each have a different charm. I’m very particular about chain lengths and thickness. For a perfect pile up, make sure there is just the right amount of space between them so that they don’t get tangled up in the front. Let each one be seen. The thinner the necklace the more delicate it will look.
It happened to be game night on Sunday so I felt like I needed to add more patriotic pieces to my look. I remembered I bought this cute little pouch last year for July 4th. I put it in my clear clutch and voila! Go USA!
Today’s downtown look was laid back and cool. This is my third blazer inspired look this week. It’s been a while since I’ve walked out of my house with just a light jacket or blazer, so when given the opportunity, I indulged a bit. This one comes from DVF, a sample sale of course. The silk satin is super soft (but can get super wrinkled throughout the day-ugh), the drawstring in the back outlines your shape instead of it getting lost from the oversize cut. The t-shirt is another DVF sample sale find, the only thing it wasn’t a t-shirt when I bought it. I had my tailor cut off the feather like fabric from the dress because it ended up shedding too much and eventually was going to fall off.
I can’t get enough of my Joe Fresh jeans and probably never will. They go great with ankle strap heels. I was able to adjust the strap so it went up as high as it could past the ankle, but just below the cuffed jeans. The combination really made me feel sexy. It was also a way to show off my bright fresh pedicure.
May is Lupus Awareness month, I wear purple for my sister.

Since it was my last beach day, I wanted to go out with a bang. A cut-out one-piece was the way to go. A classic silhouette with a modern twist, and white HOT! I paired the swimsuit with a colorful cover-up, simple straw hat, and piece of jewelry to glam up my look. I know it sounds like a lot, but sometimes more is more.
Urban Outfitters Roseville Metal Cuff, $28.00 (about 2 years old), similar styles here. Before I left on vacation I stopped in Forever 21 and saw they have a cuff identical to this one in gold and silver.
