No Stars, Just Stripes

As many of you know I’ve been in “blog post hiding” for the past couple of months, but a girl’s got to recharge her batteries once in a while. On Instagram, I was throwing back outfit photos because I live for a great theme/series. It was also a way to remind myself that I love dressing up and share it with all of my followers. During this time I was focused on my health, moving, moving on and peace within me. I’ve made some progress in all these things. At 33, losing weight is a struggle mainly because of so many distractions, but I’ve managed to stay on the right path and it starting to show. I’ve moved 4 times as an adult and boy is it a never ending chore. I got rid of so much clutter because starting out fresh was my ultimate goal. I want to invite my followers into my new home through social media once in a while. Connecting with others is something I’ve always wanted to do as a blogger. My home is where I feel the most comfortable and if I can express myself openly in that type of environment then I can build that same confidence, be totally honest and become more personal when I’m blogging.

Moving on, well it’s been a long time coming. I look forward to new beginnings and to live happily ever after. Sharing some of my personal issues on my blog along with telling you about what I’m wearing makes me feel complete.

The beginning of Summer can be very tricky when deciding what to wear. For some strange reason on the second day of Summer (my birthday) the weather went from cool to hot to cool to rain. I didn’t let the weather ruin my mood so, I still showed up to MY day. I wore a bodysuit underneath and a longline blazer over just in case a breeze or two came through. The color black solves almost all my problems. It did start to rain, but it didn’t show on my clothes, so we were able to continue shooting my outfit. I wore my favorite black jeans and a pair of leopard booties I’ve had forever. If I can still fix them up 5 years from now, you better believe they will stick around. Now if they fall apart, of course they’ll have to go. I like to find replacements almost identical before I let something go. That only goes for materialistic things, you get me? 😉

I was able to get a blow out (my hair is naturally curly, but I’m sure you already know that) and keep it that way for a few days before the humidity forced another wash. The cuff is an oldie, but always a goodie in the jewelry department. It always makes me feel like I have some sort of super power. That, and the bag brightened up the all around matte look.

Summer’s finally here and I’m already drenched.

What is your favorite trend of this sweaty season?

Have a lovely Fourth of July!

-Sai

Fringe With Benefits

As you all know I love black. Black is reliable, it’s comfortable, it’s me. However at the moment I’m having a love affair with fringe.

It’s always a good sign when you go back to items in your closet. It means 1. You’re saving money and 2. You got yourself a stylish piece that you will wear more than once! I paired it with a vintage top. A good vintage transcends decades and seasons. I think it gives the skirt a softer look, don’t you think?

Finished off with shoes that matched and a blazer because well… It’s not Summer yet!

Fringe is everywhere. Not a trend I would have thought to ever wear, but it’s looking like I like mine below the belt. 😉

What fringe pieces are you into this season? Here are some of my favorite fringe looks for less:

Fringe Faux Suede Scarf, $11

Fringe Leather High Heel Shoes, $100

Fringe Belt, $30

Leather Bochoa Fringe Shoulder Bag, $80

Outfit details below! Happy Friday and Happy Weekend!

Belt It Out

From the ‘oh this is cute…’ method, I’ve managed to have a collection of 30+ belts. But after looking at past posts, I’ve noticed I haven’t been showing my belts a whole lot of love. So here’s one for those who like to belt it out! I’ve actually been trying to get rid of this belt for so long, convincing myself I didn’t need it or that it didn’t go with anything. Accessories can give a tried and true outfit a breath of fresh air. Let’s face it, sometimes we don’t have enough time in the morning to dig into our closets.

I’m 30 now so whenever I see a bow, my first reaction is to run in the other direction. However, I thought that maybe if I kept it simple and stick to black, I’d still look like a grown woman. The belt worked really well with my dress, over a pair of leather pants, and suede booties. That’s a lot to work with even in all black, but I felt like I pulled it off.

Happy Friday!

PS- Yes, I know the bag I chose is on its last legs but I love it, okay?! There are things I just can’t let go off…at least for now.

Leather (Mini) Stroll

…on a Saturday afternoon. My feet were still burning from the day/night before so I took a break and paired my leather mini and bodysuit (again) with one my favs, Converse low tops. Thinking of purchasing high tops for more of these low key Summer weekends, what do you think?

Loosened Up My Buttons

I’m baaaaack! A casual look is the best way to welcome the warmer temperatures, albeit temporary.

I’m passing by quickly today with a 5 piece suit: button down shirt, boyfriend jeans, ankle strap shoes, a cuff bracelet and stud earrings that I recently purchased at the LOFT. I left my button down shirt with an extra button undone to sweeten up my boyfriend jeans. Normally I wear dainty necklaces to distract from the open buttons, but this time I let my still going strong tan shine through. Wearing my jeans cuffed or frayed (which I did to these Levi’s pair) at the bottom with these Rebecca Minkoff ankle strap shoes gives the look a little more character. I think this may be my go to off duty look, what do you think?

What is your off duty look? How do you wear your button downs?

Fur Old Time

I never really been into fur until I borrowed this jacket from my sister. I loved the way it looked on her New Year’s with her Pixie Market dress. She joined me on the Altuzarra for Target adventure and the jacket was what she got from the whole collection, while I bought one too many pieces! I thought it would be a huge fashion statement if I wore her faux fur over my turtleneck dress for my sister’s Chanel theme birthday party, and keep it on all night. Chanel + party + fur = tres chic. 😉 The only other accessories I added to my look were cocktail rings for some bling against all the black.

Are you adding (faux) fur to your outerwear collection?

What do you think of my sister’s Chanel cake?
