That In Satin

I’m back (insert crying emoji)! I shut myself out of social media to give myself sometime to deal with insecurities, my self-conscience-mess, and other personal issues. I just needed some time to think about what I wanted in life. I found myself constantly thinking about my career goals and how to set things in motion so I can reach those goals.

As for blogging- I thought about whether I should continue on this journey? Could I continue without getting sidetracked with self doubt and negativity? Can I do what I love and love myself in the process? I hope so. Sometimes you forget why you start something and it becomes something you had to envisioned sometimes for the better and sometimes not. I started this blog because I wanted to share my style for those who like to look sexy, chic, and stylish without breaking the bank…unless they can and want to. Regardless, I am here to stay through all my ups, downs and your budget needs.

I’m 32 now and a new set of responsibilities have taken over my life, but there’s always room for a good time in my book. For my birthday a few weeks ago, I wanted to stand out and not go the usual LBD (little black dress) route. Satin is having a moment right now and I am totally for it. Who doesn’t like the softness, sensual, sexy feeling when you throw on a dress like this one. You also can’t go wrong with embracing color in your 30’s or at any age. If you have somewhat of your s*** together -you should feel sexy in the process.

It was my first time wearing a pair of Aldo shoes and I have to say they did not disappoint. I could have gone with a simple ankle strap, but I was dying to get a pair with all that fluff on the front band. They’re affordable and even more now that they’re on sale! Super feminine and playful for a night out on the town to celebrate my born day.

I normally keep it very simple, so simple many of my outfits you’ll see are accessorized with just a sparkly stud, but this Summer I’m blingin’ it way out and keeping it cool in hoops and layered necklaces.

Thank you for all of your kind words and birthday wishes. I promise to be back and better than before!

Are you experimenting with Satin this season?

Love, BudgetSai

Olive You

Olive in my eyes is another neutral that can go with many things in your closet. It seals the deal on many outfits and it’s a lighter option for the warmer temperatures. Just like black, you can pair it with simple colors like white, nude, and navy. If you want to be a little more daring go for a monochromatic look and throw on a pop of fuchsia colored lipstick for a little summer sass. It’s my guilty pleasure and this jacket can be thrown over dresses, over tops, as a top, or heck you can even tie it around your waist if it gets too hot!

For my outfit I chose a cream colored bodysuit making it stand out more, but wearing all black underneath can still make this bomber look on trend. The denim skirt was and is another obsession of mine, I have about 5 different styles. The difference in this one is I made a choker out of it. I felt that this length/structure could have gone a little shorter so I took off the seam and went to my favorite tailor and…voila! Choker number 3589! This year’s trends are killing me! I love them! I can’t get enough of them!

Which color is constant in your wardrobe?

Who else is into reworking clothes you own? What have you made over recently?

TLC for your LBD

A little black dress goes a long way. You can’t go wrong with one no matter what the occasion. This LBD outfit was inspired by KKW on her trip to Cuba. I put this look together for a bachelorette party I attended 2 weeks ago. A bachelorette party or a club night is the only time you should go this short. Then of course there’s KKW that went sightseeing with all that sexiness. Instead of going for the choker with a cross like she did, I chose a heart locket velvet choker. Ever since I was little, I’ve had an obsession with hearts, so my 2 chainz moment both had pretty little hearts dangling from my neck. I kept my hair loose even though the heat made it impossible to keep it that way! Then there was the shoes: Stecy never lets me down. Ankle strap shoes are classy even with a mini dress. For a mini dress, I think the more delicate the shoe, the better. Stay away from platform shoes to avoid looking extra clunky and trashy. Also, opt for simple makeup for the girl who who wants to balance out her sexy.

Let that LBD shine!

Happy Hump Day!

Fringe With Benefits

As you all know I love black. Black is reliable, it’s comfortable, it’s me. However at the moment I’m having a love affair with fringe.

It’s always a good sign when you go back to items in your closet. It means 1. You’re saving money and 2. You got yourself a stylish piece that you will wear more than once! I paired it with a vintage top. A good vintage transcends decades and seasons. I think it gives the skirt a softer look, don’t you think?

Finished off with shoes that matched and a blazer because well… It’s not Summer yet!

Fringe is everywhere. Not a trend I would have thought to ever wear, but it’s looking like I like mine below the belt. 😉

What fringe pieces are you into this season? Here are some of my favorite fringe looks for less:

Fringe Faux Suede Scarf, $11

Fringe Leather High Heel Shoes, $100

Fringe Belt, $30

Leather Bochoa Fringe Shoulder Bag, $80

Outfit details below! Happy Friday and Happy Weekend!

Super Bowl 50

Sorry for such a late post! I’ve been so busy lately so those who follow me on Instagram (@budgetsai) were able to see a tease of this look.

Okay so I’m not like this huge fan of football, but I do love the excitement the Super Bowl brings into the American living room. After all, there’s more than just football going on at the Super Bowl. There are commercials, performances, and celeb sightings, so there’s a little something for everyone.

Last year I didn’t show my team spirit even though I went for the winning team; the Patriots. Interestingly enough, this year not only did I show my appreciation to the Panthers, but they ended up losing. Bummer. :/ Nevertheless, I enjoyed every minute of the game no matter the disappointing outcome.

My t-shirt comes from the NFL website where there were so many to choose from -I opted out of the Panthers traditional colors and focused more on what I had at home to style with my complete Super Bowl party look. Camouflage is a favorite print in BudgetSai’s closet and the cat? Well I didn’t want to lose the mascot and it reminded me of my leopard obsession as well. The topshop jeans were a comfortable pair in case I needed to jump around and cheer throughout the game, the boots ‘lo estrene’ (translation: wore them for the first time) so that made me feel extra sexy and sporty at the same time. Braids are on trend right now and I’m all for it. Depending on how you style your outfit, braids can be playful, romantic, or edgy. My younger sister and I have very fond memories of our mother braiding our hair. If you ask me, braids are an easy way to get to work early since the style lasts as long as you let it.

I love a long coat. I feel like it changes my whole mood, like a don’t mess with me I’m in a cape and I’m not afraid to use it. The choker is also such a bad ass trend right now –I CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF IT!

How did you all celebrate the SuperBowl?

What item in your closet makes you feel SUPER?

xoxo, Budgetsai

Storm King

In the middle of a crazy week, sometimes you need a B R E A K. Even the smallest getaways can become a great escape from that pile of work that just never seems to disappear. At Storm King, an outdoor art exhibition in New Windsor, New York about an hour from the City, I discovered a taste of art and nature I never knew I needed. A breath of fresh air to help cope with city polluted thoughts that can drag you down in your everyday life. It was the most relaxed and calm I have felt in a while.

I paired my zen outlook with a messy air dried bun, comfortable jeans, a white tee and Converse sneakers. The cardigan or what I like to call a coatigan was the thrift shop finishing touch: the vibrant colors reminded me so much of the Fall and it was warm enough to throw on and go. The fringe was on- trend and gave an added playfulness to the outfit.

I enjoyed my day trip to the Storm King Art Center. I highly recommend it if you love art, nature, and maybe even a hike if you’re feeling adventurous!

What are some of your favorite getaways?
