new year

Fearless

That’s you, and you and you and me!

This past weekend I participated in the 2nd Annual Women’s March. It has been one hell of a year since last year’s march. I’m not into politics at all, but a Hispanic woman like myself can’t ignore the words and actions that comes out of this presidency. So many emotions ran through my mind, looking around at people of all genders, ages, nationality, sexual preference all with the same American Dream. How can one person try take that away from us?

I grew up in a household with my 3 siblings of parents who immigrated from the Dominican Republic. We are not just first generation, we are THE generation. In my parents eyes, they did the right thing coming to this country, raising educated women, providing for us so that we didn’t struggle in life, to the point where we now can provide for them.

It’s never too late to get out there, speak up and fight for your rights! It is never too late to work hard for your dreams. BE FEARLESS!

And what do fun fearless females wear? Wild wild wild coats! I’ve wanted a leopard coat for a while now and I guess it was just bad timing…until now.

During the Cyber Monday sale I was able to get my hands on this faux fur for, wait for it… $23! Since then we’ve been a match made in Heaven. If you know don’t know me, know this: I love animal print, so it was just a matter of time before I got my paws on a classic piece to add to my wardrobe. I left room underneath for a playful sheer blouse and a pair of snatched attack high waist jeans. I wore patent high heels and a patent tote for a polished work appropriate look. I kept my makeup simple, but if you want to get really wild, wear a seductive red lip to bring all the boys and the girls to the yard. 😉

What brings out your wild side? Tell me your fearless story! 🙂

Grinch Don’t Steal My Vibe

Did everyone have an overall good Christmas? Gathered by the ones you love? Did you dance the night away? Or was that just me? 😉 How did Santa treat you?  -Well Santa made sure I was surrounded by family, that’s all I can hope for every year, to be able to see another day, feel the love and appreciation gathered in one room.

Now that Christmas has come and gone, New Year’s is up next. I’ve been reflecting upon this past year and although I have many goals in mind for 2018, the general idea is that I want to stay positive and avoid, deflect and reject any and all negativity. At least try. This past year I’ve experienced so much bad energy, pettiness, envy and disrespect. You cannot progress in an environment that is polluted with negative energy, relentlessly bringing you down and holding you back. It’s time to leave it all behind because it’s the only way towards a bigger and better you.

In 2018, I plan to take a step back and learn to deal with things differently. Now remember: You don’t have to put anyone down to build yourself up. Doing better is about finding peace within yourself, not disrupting the peace in others. The work to better yourself is never over so why not start now? I encourage you all to do the same!

I love Christmas and to keep the spirit alive, I wore a playful ‘brick’ Betsey Johnson number. The color, the sequins, the silhouette was a total hit. In total monochrome form, I wore my MAC “diva” matte lip and kissed the night away. The nude platforms kept the look toned down below the knee.

I couldn’t help but smile with joy at every twirl of this sparkling number.

Happy Holidays!

Love, BudgetSai

Bitter Sweet 16

It took so long for me to write the last post of the year, but I am here and ready to move forward.

2016 took me on a roller coaster ride: the lows sunk me at times where I felt stuck, the twists and turns shook me to my core, and the highs although there were a few, did not reach the heights I aspire to be.

So much so that it has reflected upon my outfits; I totally took advantage of the whole hoodie and sweatpants trend (thank you, Athleisure)

In life, there are the days you wake up and find devilish energy on your back. If you let it, it creeps its way up to the right side of your shoulder and cranks up the negative thoughts and feelings so loud that all you can do to make it through the day is grab a pair of sweatpants.
I’ve been MIA, but I have done some reflecting. I realized that if you don’t believe in yourself, no one ever will and your world and your dreams will begin to crumble right before your eyes.

From now on I’m going to turn the crumble into glitter and sprinkle my way through the fashion world one budget outfit at a time.

This outfit goes back to Christmas Eve. I took a basic velvet number -added a cape and choker. I was channeling my inner superhero. I love the new lightweight trenchcoats and cardigans, it adds effortless drama to even the most casual looks.

2017 is here, how is it going so far?

Always remember to set your own pace and not sweat the small stuff…

The Night Before Christmas

Which on the calendar reads Christmas Eve, is the day most Latinos like myself and my family celebrate. We get together to eat tons of pernil (my shirt got the best of that dish), different kinds of rice dishes, mom’s famous spaghetti (requested at every party we attend), potato salad, green salad, flan and can’t forget the coqui. Christmas Eve is also a time to dress up and catch up on the year we’ve had. Super cliché for wearing red during the holidays, but it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to represent a holiday that I really enjoy -with my family. On that note, I nodded back to my high school days as Catholic school girl. I turned sweet into a sexy 30 with a secretary blouse with bows, mini skirt with pleats and leopard heels.

What did you think of my holiday fashion?
How did you spend the holidays?

I want to tell you a little bit of why I’ve been MIA lately -Christmas night my mother suffered a heart attack and underwent open heart surgery. It’s been almost 2 weeks since this difficult time in my family’s lives, but mom is at home recovering once again. She is one of the strongest people I know. Thank you for all your prayers and support. ❤

Not Looking Back

A quick look at some of my January 2015 Instagram posts. Started off going to the gym, enjoying the City’s brisks nights, some hot oatmeal, through the snow, rain, all while decorating my home with flowers every week. Then there was more snow which meant some time to myself at home, but also enjoying those family get togethers at the beginning of the year. Winter really is a hibernating season and you can’t help but to feel bummed out. One thing that helps me put on a happy face is cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning. There is always something to do, but not until now did I realize that it’s a hobby that is very therapeutic for me and keeps me sane! Especially in the cold! Summer I miss you, come back already.

How was everyone’s first month of 2015?

So much coming up in February!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday!

2015 Is Here!

Happy New Year everyone! I can’t believe it’s Twenty Fifteen, I mean so much has happened in a year. I started a blog, something I never knew I could feel so passionate about, it’s my last year in my twenties (time really flies) and I finally have my own place! Of course there are so many changes that still need to be made to mold me into the person I strive to be, but I’ve learned that’s it’s never too late. It doesn’t matter what year it is really, you have to always have some sort of goal, big or small to keep you moving in life. My main goal besides the usual: get fit, be more social, and sleep less (I’ve been told I take sleep seriously), is to do what makes me happy. It will always be my goal, a year from now even 10 years from now.

Have you set up your 2015 goals/resolutions?

New Year’s Eve calls for sparkle, shine and a ton of sequins! Every year my sister celebrates her twins birthday (January 1st) so I plan out what we should all wear, even my mom gets into the spirit. Love it! This year I chose sequins because normally we go with all black, but I’m trying to stray away from that on special events (as much as I can), as it is a daily wardrobe for me. This year I chose a sequin maxi skirt that I found at Marshalls for $40 bucks! I already had some tops in mind and accessories so having to only buy one thing was a total miracle for such a big night. I was torn between a white button down and the black deep V surplice top. After many try ons, I went with the black top. It is my choice of color 95% of the time and of course I was afraid to dirty my white shirt! I was able to overload on accessories because it was New Years. The louder the accessories, the more appropriate. Am I right or am I right? So I borrowed my sister’s earrings and matched it with all the gunmetal rings I could find in my jewelry box. I went with my Stecy black patent sandals because they were just the right height for the not so long maxi skirt. I kept the gunmetal look going with a metallic silver color on my nails from Dior.

How do you all think I did this New Year’s Eve?

What were your New Year’s Eve plans? And what out of this world outfit did you wear to ring in the New Year?

xoxo, Budget$ai
