No Stars, Just Stripes

As many of you know I’ve been in “blog post hiding” for the past couple of months, but a girl’s got to recharge her batteries once in a while. On Instagram, I was throwing back outfit photos because I live for a great theme/series. It was also a way to remind myself that I love dressing up and share it with all of my followers. During this time I was focused on my health, moving, moving on and peace within me. I’ve made some progress in all these things. At 33, losing weight is a struggle mainly because of so many distractions, but I’ve managed to stay on the right path and it starting to show. I’ve moved 4 times as an adult and boy is it a never ending chore. I got rid of so much clutter because starting out fresh was my ultimate goal. I want to invite my followers into my new home through social media once in a while. Connecting with others is something I’ve always wanted to do as a blogger. My home is where I feel the most comfortable and if I can express myself openly in that type of environment then I can build that same confidence, be totally honest and become more personal when I’m blogging.

Moving on, well it’s been a long time coming. I look forward to new beginnings and to live happily ever after. Sharing some of my personal issues on my blog along with telling you about what I’m wearing makes me feel complete.

The beginning of Summer can be very tricky when deciding what to wear. For some strange reason on the second day of Summer (my birthday) the weather went from cool to hot to cool to rain. I didn’t let the weather ruin my mood so, I still showed up to MY day. I wore a bodysuit underneath and a longline blazer over just in case a breeze or two came through. The color black solves almost all my problems. It did start to rain, but it didn’t show on my clothes, so we were able to continue shooting my outfit. I wore my favorite black jeans and a pair of leopard booties I’ve had forever. If I can still fix them up 5 years from now, you better believe they will stick around. Now if they fall apart, of course they’ll have to go. I like to find replacements almost identical before I let something go. That only goes for materialistic things, you get me? 😉

I was able to get a blow out (my hair is naturally curly, but I’m sure you already know that) and keep it that way for a few days before the humidity forced another wash. The cuff is an oldie, but always a goodie in the jewelry department. It always makes me feel like I have some sort of super power. That, and the bag brightened up the all around matte look.

Summer’s finally here and I’m already drenched.

What is your favorite trend of this sweaty season?

Have a lovely Fourth of July!

-Sai

Super Bowl 2015

Congratulations to the New England Patriots! I’d like to give a special thanks to BAREBURGER (located at 85 Second Avenue, NY, NY 10003) for being such wonderful hosts! It’s one of my favorite New York City brunch spots.

This Winter I’m loving all of Forever 21’s outerwear. I had to have this faux suede aviator coat, it’s not too bright (I’m trying more color now so when it’s time for Summer outfits I won’t be too afraid to go all out) and very warm if you ask me. I’m not a die hard football fan, but I do love all the excitement it brings when it’s Super Bowl Sunday. Instead of dressing up according to the team I was routing for, I wore a tee that said, “I kinda of like football, but let’s not go overboard”. The shirt actually came with a New York City “logo” on the front pocket that I tore off and then had it sewed. It was more me that way. I’ve realized that you can not only alter something to your height, but also your liking. I over accessorized because I felt too plain on a day such as Super Bowl Sunday, it was my way of cheerleading without the pompoms. Some red pumps to keep it look feminine, then I changed into my lug boots because I totally forgot that it was going to start snowing in the middle of game time here in New York City. So much for that. I am from…and I love New York, but why so cold? Ugh!

I also love how people all over the World come together to support American Football. I read that about 100 million people watched the game! Love me some sports and lots of love.

Did you watch the game on Sunday?
What are your favorite sports to watch?

Football is a sport that is an exciting and exhilarating American past time. If you’re anything like me, no matter how casual the event is, I like to have the option of wearing high heels even if it is just going to the bar and watching a big game.

Everyone looks forward to get through the holidays just to get to the Super Bowl. I’m rooting for Colin and the 49ers one hundred percent! Crossing my fingers! Now I’m not close to being a football expert, but I can dress for the occasion with Fanatics. Fanatics has an overwhelming amount of NFL jerseys to choose from on their website, but I stayed true to my love for the color red and of course the 49ers. Football season is a cold one and sometimes you have to pile on layers like this leather jacket to keep warm. So, don’t forget your hats, scarves and gloves.

I chose a pair of Levi’s jeans, a perfect fit to watch the 49ers playing at their home, Levi’s stadium. Don’t forget to pump it up in leopard heels, furry clutch and midi rings.  I like to give every outfit or trend a glamorous touch so while I root for my favorite team in the stands or at the bar, I still feel like myself. A girl has to always look her best wherever you choose to watch the game!

What’s your favorite football team?

Are you a true Fanatic?

Who’s ready for some Thursday Night football?!

Cozy Up

This past Sunday it felt like an official Fall day. Temperatures were very brisk, but romantic enough to take a walk in the park. Perfect for football too. Go Giants!

I brought out one of my few knit sweaters for the “cold” weather; they can really keep you warm, but in my case -hot! I can only wear them if I know I’ll be outside the whole time. I don’t recommend any indoor knitwear. The skirt is one of those pieces of clothing in your closet you’ve never worn, has actually made it to your give away pile, but ends back in your closet like “one day, one day I know I’ll wear it.” And that day was Sunday. My Mulberry for Target bag hasn’t seen the outside world since I got her back in 2010. I really need to show more love to my prized possessions. Can’t forget the boots now, they too have a story. They weren’t supposed to be part of my Altuzarra for Target shopping spree, but after I had seen how sexy they looked on another fellow collaboration obsessed, I decided to give them a try. What do you think? Good purchase?

What are your cold weather essentials?

Are you ready for boot season?

Take me out to the ball game

This past Saturday my family and I went to see my nephew play with his high school team at the Staten Island Yankees Stadium. It was a nice day for a ball game so I wore a baseball tee (duh) dress that I purchased last season from Forever 21. It was the fastest outfit decision I’ve made in a long time. I paired the dress with my Converse sneakers, my favorite sneakers to wear when I can’t wear my first love, heels! However, if I had dinner plans after the game, I would have paired the dress with my open toe Rachel Roy booties. Nevertheless I think I brought my A-game and showed my nephew the support he deserved at his first game the best way I knew how, through fashion and style.
